DC talking in sleep?

DS has been babbling a lot more during the day lately, but last night he started chattering in his sleep for several minutes. He was being really loud- we've got a split-level & I could hear him from downstairs with his door closed! When I checked on him, his eyes were  closed and he was twisting his head back and forth (rubbing off what's left of the hair on the back of his head) like he does sometimes. I got him up because he was starting to sound a little fussy, and because we had guests in the next room that had to get up for an early flight. I fed him and he went happily back to sleep afterwards. About a half hour later we hear him on the monitor chattering again. At that point DH just told me to turn off the monitor, since obviously he wasn't hungry or in distress.

Have any of your DCs talked or babbled in their sleep? Is this just a phase? Should we just ignore it and let him chatter away?

Re: DC talking in sleep?

  • My girls will sometimes do something similar. We usually just let them be unless they become upset and really start fussing. Even if they start to fuss just a little we will let them be, usually they are able to sooth themselves back to sleep. Some times (if it is not the middle of the night) I enjoy sitting there listening to them while they are in bed babble and coo to each other and themselves.?
