How to politely decline visitors

What is a generic phrase that won't offend anyone if we don't want company this week? I'm worn out and not in the mood, but i don't want to hurt anyone's feelings. I am surprised at how many people have invited themselves over all at once. That didn't happen with Ds #1 at all.

  • I think you should just say "Things are a little hectic here right now. ?Could we pick a date in a couple of weeks, once things have settled down?" ?I doubt anyone would be offended - I certainly wouldn't be if someone said that to me. ?

I just told the truth, we are tired and going to lay down to rest can we call you in a few days to have you come over?? I was so hormonal I didn't care about anyone's feelings at that time

  • I just told them I was tired and needed to rest.
  • agree with other posters.  you could also say that you are exhausted and would like them to visit at a time when you can really enjoy spending time with them.
  • Thanks guys! I feel bad because people will say they made me dinner (frozen) when can they bring it over?
