Last week I had a skin biopsy done on my calf by my dermatologist. Her office is an hour away, so she told me instead of driving in to have my 2 stitches removed, if I knew anyone who could remove stitches, they could do it for me. And then she explained how to do it! Kind of like "And if you don't know anyone who can do it for you, here's how to do it yourself!"
She said to cut the stitches close to the knots and gently pull. Is that all there is to it? I don't have anyone closer than an hour who could do it for me (well, that I'd feel comfortable asking... my next-door-neighbor is a nurse but we rarely talk so that might be kind of wierd!) and if it really is that easy, I'd rather just do it myself.
Is there anything else I should know? It's seriously 2 dinky little stitches and Friday will be 10 days, so I'll wait until then, as directed by the derm. I never would have considered doing this myself until she said it was no big deal.
Re: NBR: Calling all nurses
Yeah, I'll have to check! We have a pretty serious First Aid kit in the car... maybe it has something good?!
Maybe I could convince our school nurse to do it:) That would be a change from her usual requests, I'm sure!
Well, for the record, all the First Aid kit had in it was a gigantic pair of plastic tweezers. These things are huge!
I'll consult with the nurse tomorrow:) I'll bring her some candy for good measure!
Thanks, guys!
