Re: **Central PA Moms-to-Be Check-In**

  • 1. I have the worst birth plan in the entire world LOL - I want an epidural, and that is really the only thing I have thought of!  :D  I've been given a huge list of things to consider, but I am so "I don't know until I am in it" that I am officially going to have the worst birth plan in the world.  :D

    2. Third tri seems to have come a few weeks early.  Nesting has been in full swing for WEEKS - my house is insanely organized and cleaned (I have broken down, moved, and thrown out FURNITURE - I have gone crazy!  We've also gotten rid of over 10 huge contractor bags of trash - no more clutter!!) and I am still not done.   In the midst of all of this, I am also CRAZY EXHAUSTED.  What sense does that make LOL? And with that, I am off to go clean out my husband's closet! :D

  • A birth plan is nice to have, but there are just so many unexpected things that take place during labor. I went into thinking I would go totally natural....ended up having to be induced w/ pitocin and have a c-section 28 hours later. You just don't know...so feel confident that you at least know that you want an epidural.

  • Birth plan ? I want to labor naturally for a while but once the pain hits I will not be afraid to ask for some medication to help. I have no intention of birthing with out an epi.

I am swelling beyond belief and by the end of the day the skin on my ankles is so tight it is excruciatingly painful to walk. I go home and put my feet up and try to stay off my feet as much as possible at night and on weekends and drink lots of water per my doctor?s instructions.   I have three weeks to go so I am just trying not to be a baby about it but I hate not being able to do stuff. My MIL, mom and DH are constantly telling me to just take it easy and then that gets annoying.

I was stressing out about being off my feet, some family issues and my workload which caused Bryce to apparently get a little stressed. He wasn?t moving much so I went in for a non stress test and got a warning to relax. I had a follow up one a few days later. The second was much better, I just realized that work and a clean house are not important right now and I am lightening up since obviously my crazy analness was affecting the baby - that was a wake up call to me.

I can't believe I only have 3 weeks to go until my due date. I just have a feeling I will be late though. I just hope he is here by Memorial Day.

  • I think having a plan is a good idea, but it definelty doesn't always work.  With DD1 I just wanted an epi and I got one, but it ended only numbing part of my body and leg...I didn't feel contractions but I felt the entire delivery.  With DD2 there was no time for anything.
  • I didn't have a birth plan with DD1, only that I wanted an epidural.  I got one, but it didn't work by the time I hit 7 cm.  I felt everything.  My only *wish* is that the next time my epi works the entire time.  I definitely plan to have one!

I'm feeling great.  Found out yesterday at our u/s that baby looks great and that we're having a GIRL!!!!  So exciting!  We have a lot of work to get done to the house before DD2 gets here, so that's the priority right now.

  • 1)I am just going to roll with the punches.  I do plan on having meds but aside from that, I am trying not to plan to much because I don't want to be disappointed if things don't work out the way I want them.

2)It's a boy!  He finally decided to cooperated (well, he showed himself but still didn't really cooperate).  My blood pressure is looking better at each appointment with the addition of meds with my doctors are happy with.  I finally gaines a few pounds and popped in the last two weeks.  DH is going to be amazed when he comes home (he's only been home about 5 hours since the Sunday before last - 3 1/2 Friday night and 1 1/2 Sunday) so he hasn't really seen the bump.  I'm in my third trimester and can't believe how fast the time is flying by!

  • No birthplan for me, at least not yet.  We have an anesthesia class a few weeks before EDD, so that will help me figure out the options.  I have no strong aversions or objections to natural labor or drugs, and knowing that each situation is unpredictable, I think I'll likely leave it up to the experts to determine my birth plan.  I don't feel like I know enough to make a "plan," at least not yet.

Our biggest update is a new car!!  Well, not yet, because the dealership has to get it from another location, but by early next week my beloved Saturn coupe will be gone and I'll be driving a new Rav4.  We're very excited (we think we ended up getting a fantastic deal on a quality car), but I'm sad to see the first big investment I ever made solo and paid off on my own go.  That and I'm not looking forward to a car payment after not having had one for a couple of years.  But ultimately, baby determined the need for a "family car," and we're happy with what we're getting.

  • Can you please add me, hopefully I'll stick around this time :)

    Baby #2, EDD 12/30/09

    1)  Since I already went through this once, I know exactly what I want next time - an epidural !  I had wanted to go natural with Connor and after 24 hours+ of labor, crying through the contractions at only 4 cm, the epidural was the best thing I did.  It wore off in time for me to push, and they gave me pitocin which made everything worse... so I still got to experience the feeling of actually pushing him out, which was the reason I wanted to go natural in the first place.

    2) so far so good - m/s started kicking in a little today, but just a little queasiness, we're leaving for vacation next weekend and I have a bad feeling the m/s is going to really kick in while we are away.

  • 1) Birth plan is a little sketchy for me because baby is still transverse.  If she turns and I actually have a vaginal delivery, I'd like to try to go natural.  I feel like it's a decision I can't make till I'm actually experiencing everything though so who knows.  DH and I are planning to go with the flow.  I just have a feeling that she will be stubborn and not turn and I'll end up having a c-section, and I'm ok with that too.

    2) Feeling great!  My hips get a little sore at night.  I have BH every time I need to use the bathroom or I'm on my feet for too long.  Fitting behind the steering wheel is getting interesting. We finished out chldbirth and baby boot camp classes this week so that feels good.  My parents threw us a baby shower last weekend and we got SO much stuff.  Can't wait to pick up the rest of it with gift cards this weekend!  Pumpkin is still moving like crazy and last night she was really stretching out her fist or something really far right next to my belly button.  DH and I are constantly amazed.

  • 1. I would like to go completely med free because I have an extreme tolerence for pain plus I'm not a fan of putting medicines, etc in my body unless absolutely necessary.  I'm aware that things can go completely different while I'm in labor but that is my ideal plan.

    2. I just had my last monthly checkup today and everything is great!  I will be going every 2 weeks now and my sugar test is scheduled in 2 weeks as well.  Woohoo!  I'm STILL on progesterone shots twice a week but I am so used to it now that it's not an issue.  We will be starting our 2nd level of child birth classes next week and the nursery is just about ready for the furniture to be delivered.  Feeling pretty good overall, just some round ligament pains that can be pretty intense but I can handle it.

  • I know I'm posting late, but if you catch this, can I be added please? #1 EDD 12/6/09

    1. It is still early and we have so much to discuss, but I'm not against a natural birth or having an epi. ?I think that as the time gets closer, I'll have a better idea. However, I agree that a plan is just a plan and that it ultimately rests on each situation and what is best for you and baby.

    2. Right now, I'm feeling horrible since I've had the flu since yesterday. I honestly think I've never been this sick my entire life, and haven't been able to keep anything down since yesterday morning which worries me for baby. But I'm sure those with m/s experience that all the time, so I'm sure all is fine and hopefully I'll shake this today. Other than that, when I'm feeling "normal" its more about finding foods that sound appetizing to me. I found out my Fifth disease blood work was never done, only my regular panels, but luckily they caught the lab in time and my blood is still good, so no more needles for now.?

  • haha, my ideal birth plan. ?Lets see, I would like no pain and to push only once! ?haha! ?RIGHT! ?This time around I would just like to not be induced and my epidural to work if i decide to have one.
