Hi! You're a Dr, right (or do you just play one on The Bump )? I have a question for you.
My mom was diagnosed with leukemia (if I remember correctly AML) last summer. She went through 6 months of chemo and in Jan was told she was in remission. She's been doing great and was a champ through the chemo treatments. Yesterday she had a Dr's appointment and they tested her blood. Apparently her red blood and white blood cells were good but her platelets were low (60,000, they were over 100,000 the last time she was tested). Does that mean her leukemia is back? Could there be other reasons why it's low?
She said she's been feeling good, a little tired on some days but nothing unusual. She doesn't feel like she did when she was first diagnosed (so short of breathe she had to be put on oxygen). Her Dr is having her do another bone marrow biopsy on Monday (won't get the results for a week after that) but I'm a little anxious so I wanted to know what you thought.
Thanks for your help.
Re: CathyMD - NTTCA35
Haha, it would appear I just play one on the bump. Nope, I am the president of a pr/communications firm.
Didn't give that sn much thought when I created it, Being Canadian, the whole MD as a state didn't occur to me. Neither did the physician angle...and tons of my friends are doctors!
And I would ask one of them for you, but I don't have an oncologists in my circle.
I wish I could help! Sorry
You know after I posted this I thought 'maybe MD is her middle and last name initial.
Thanks though.
