Mary Claire?

WDYT? Too dowdy? Would you still have a mn with this?

Re: Mary Claire?

  • NMS. It reminds me of sister act. Sister Mary Clarence.
  • reminds me of the magazine Marie Claire. And, like the PP, it sounds like Sister Mary Clarence.

  • meh.. it's ok.  The fact that you're asking about giving a mn makes me think you'd use these two names together all the time, which makes it sound even more nun-like.  I also don't like the almost rhyme...
  • I think Mary is too plain. (Sorry, Grandmom.) Claire is too trendy and typical for now.

I know someone with this name and like pp said, it's hard to drop the middle name because they are so easy to say together. I feel like someone with this name is forever 10 years old.

All that aside, I really do think it is a lovely name!?

Agree. Totally reminds me of Marie Claire mag.

someecards.com - I support Newt Gingrich's idea of colonizing the moon if it'll help me get away from Newt Gingrich.

  • I don't like names that rhyme, so it's NMS.  I'd rather see Marie Claire - it's prettier and flows better - but, yeah, the magazine...

  • I am not a fan of the Mary ________ names. They're really popular around here, I just don't care for them, they're nun like to me.

  • NMS - reminds me of the magazine Marie Claire. I do like Claire by itself.

  • NMS- as said before reminded of the magazine and TOTALLY see Sister Act! Claire isnt bad tho- it's common...
  • I have the tendancy to want to say Marie Claire.
  • I'd drop the Mary and just stick with Claire.  Like PPs, "Mary Claire" sounds a bit too Catholic (even if you are Catholic).
  • I have  a beautiful neice named Mary Claire - wasn't crazy about the name when my sister first suggested it, but like it very much now - funny how your view on a name will change because of the person.  I think it flows very well and is very pretty and still fairly unique.

  • my sister is named mary clare and she is named after a family friend who is a nun/ headmistress at her school. i will just say that she goes by mary and wishes she had a "cooler name" but then again, she's a little wild too.

oh and you don't need a second middle name with it, i think that would sound weird.

  • I used to know a woman named Mary Clare, so I have good associations with this name. For some reason, it makes me think of Mary Kay cosmetics, but I still like it.
  • It reminds me of Marie Claire, the mag.

  • Love it and no I wouldn't use a middle name.
  • I like it.  We also have a cousin named Mary Caroline.  I wouldn't use a mn with a double name.
