I'm livid. I was out at Pizza Hut with my friend and my DD. My DD was sitting in her high chair just minding her own business when the waitress comes back with our pepsi's on a tray and she drops the tray on my DD's head! She started screaming, and the waitress tried getting the ice out of her shirt, I picked her up and told her not to touch her. I was and still am so upset. A. Who carries two drinks on a tray and B. It's common sense you don't hold a tray over a child's head, or anyone's head for that matter. I can't wait for this day to be over.
Re: Waitress dropped tray on DD
I don't want to sound like a ***, but i'm sure if it was your child you would be pretty upset also.. and she only had TWO drinks on the tray when she was carrying it.. and i saw her walking from the kitchen with just the TWO drinks.. I"m not dumb. I was once a waitress also
lol no. i wouldn't. and i thought you were saying "who carries 2 drinks on the same tray!!!" (as if it were a lot). but FYI, many places REQUIRE you to carry things on trays - even something as simple as a side of ranch. they go out on a tray. no questions asked.
I would be pretty upset too. You are not supposed to carry things over customers heads. But yeah Punk is right, loads of places are required to carry EVERYTHING on a tray, even if they bring out an extra silverware and thats it. Prob why she had only the 2 drinks on there.
Her DD might disagree - you don't know if it hurt or not. Of course it was an accident, but I'd be upset too.
baby #4 due March '17!
Thank you, My DD has a bump on her head, so i'm positive it hurt her she is 11 months old for God sakes. Just because Punk wouldn't be upset if a tray with drinks on it dropped on her child's head it doesn't mean i'm not allowed to be.
I am sorry. The waitress shouldn't have had the drinks over her head.
I waited tables for over 5 years and dropped more than a few trays on people, it sucks, but we can't change gravity. I hope they at least comped your meal...
And I know at least Perkins requires you to carry EVERYTHING out on a tray even though I can carry 4 or more plates at a time without one.
What kind of intelligent human being stands with a tray above a baby's head? This is common sense, my 4yo nephew KNOWS not to hold things above a baby's head.
The fact that she didn't get seriously hurt is Completely beside the point-the point is that she could have been hurt. What if this tray had hot pizza on it? or plates with food? or knives, forks, etc? It might not have ended as well as it did. An accident is an accident if it wasn't due to somebody being an idiot.
It would have been one thing had the girl tripped or they toppled onto her...but for her told the tray ABOVE somebody's head is stupidity plain and simple-and should not be considered just an accident.
Personally, the girl would no longer have her throat intact had she dropped it on my child. Or had I been there while she dropped it on a child at my table.
This. Definately.
I know you're upset and have every right to be, but it sounds like it was an honest mistake. It could have been the poor woman's first day on the job. Yes, the tray could have contained hot pizza, sharp knives, a rabid lemur or a live grenade, but it was just soda. The waitress tried to help by getting the ice out your DD's shirt, and she probably feels horrible.
DD's fine, you're fine, I say get over it and be glad that, unless you're very unlucky, it probably won't happen again.
Like I said previously if its was YOUR child, you would be upset. So don't tell me to just get over it.
That happened to my little sister once when we were kids. The waitress dropped five glasses of ice cold water on her. My dad made her strip down in the restaurant because she was soaked though. We still talk about it to this day.
I'd be pissed too--did they at least give you your meal for free? They should have.

An honest mistake would have been something not due to her lacking common sense. First day on the job means nothing-any intelligent human being who has EVER been around a child should know better than to do something so mindless.
Well yes, you are classy and would undoubtedly throw punches in front of your infant at a pizza hut.
not all of us find it "beat" worthy offense. She felt awful. It was an accident and nothing happened. I'm sorry it did but your child is fine. Calm down. ?
Would I be upset if a tray got dropped on DD? Sure. I'd be watching DD pretty closely to make sure she didn't have a concussion or something. Would I be so spitting mad at the waitress that I was cruel to someone who most likely already felt like _shit? Nope.
The facts are these: a tray and 2 sodas got dropped on your DD. A tray and 2 sodas are not likely very heavy. They are not hot. No one was seriously hurt.
If circumstances were different, it might be a different story. Fact is, they weren't different. Some of you are seriously over-reacting.
How to you know she felt awful? Because actually she sure wasn't acting like it, she was acting like nothing happened, when i came back inside. And yes my child is fine.. BUT I am still entitled to be upset about the situation. So like I said to previous people, don't tell me I need to calm down. Because until something like that ever happens to your kid ( hopefully it never will) You don't understand what it feels like to watch something like that happening, it was very upsetting. If something like that wouldn't upset some of you, then something is seriously wrong.
