Hi! I'll admit I'm a lurker over here because I love the pics of your babies and all of your fabulous stories. I'm an auntie to twins and they are just wonderful.
My question is I have a friend that just found out she's having twins. She's 9weeks along. I would love to get her something fabulous that you all loved during your pregnancies. Any ideas?
Re: Gift ? from a GPer
i'd really love a gift cert for a house cleaning
lol
if you just want to send her a token gift - i was really excited when my best friend sent me a matching pair of little baby booties.... i have them sitting on the 'nook' in the hallway outside of the nursery to remind me of what is on the way.
A lot of people don't like to get too much "baby" stuff early on b/c they are nervous about m/c, etc..... so i woudln't go crazy - just something to let her know you are excited for her and thinking about her is nice.
the pedi is a good idea. I can't believe I didn't think of that!
I would do the house cleaning but she made the deal with her DH that if the IVF ended in twins he would pay for a monthly service.
How about a copy of Dr. Barbara Luke's book on when you are expecting twins, triplets, or quads?
But the absolute best thing you can do for her is if she ends up on bedrest come over often to visit and entertain her. It's boring as all get out being on bedrest, and I am more grateful to the friends who came over on their lunch breaks or to play a board game with me in the evenings while I was trapped in the house then I was for any baby gift I received.
Great ideas by pp's. THe only gifts I got were Baby Bargains & some other pregnancy books (there are plenty of books out there about preparing for twins, in addition to dr luke's book that is more about the pregnancy), and a friend got me a snoogle b/c I was really struggling to try to sleep on my side since I'm a back sleeper & it has been super helpful since you start to get bigger/show earlier.
You're a great friend
!
I agree the pedicure is a good idea! Or the snoogle. I can't live without my snoogle! I did get a few baby books as gifts and a friend gave me some matching booties and hats once we found out the sexes. Or a gift certificate for maternity clothes would be a good idea too. I had to start wearing maternity pants right away.
I also agree that if she ends up on bedrest that going over to visit, or brining meals over is SO much appreciated! You are a great friend for thinking of her!
A belly band! I wore mine from 9w-16w so I could keep wearing my pants for longer.
The Dr. Luke book is another great suggestion. What a great friend you are!
