MIL strikes again!

My mom had my MIL, me and my DD over for a "girl's lunch" today (which was actually my idea) and after we had finished eating, we were sitting in the family room chatting. Well, my mom whispered to my MIL that i'm going to have twins next (i'm not even pregnant yet, but my mom likes to tease me), to which my MIL starts talking about how she wasn't there for DD's birth and didn't even know I was in labor, etc. (NOBODY knew I was in labor. I was in labor in the middle of the night and had my DD early in the morning. But apparantly that's all my fault as if I had control over that...?? She holds this over my head to this day.) So, anyways, my MIL then says "Well hopefully she (meaning me) is over all of that now (nobody besides DH being there for the birth)." Excuse me? Get over what?!? Being ME? I swear, she always has to say something out of line. It drives me crazy. This woman is NEVER going to be in the room when I give birth and who does she think she is thinking that she even has a say in it! After she made that comment she kept going on and on about how she just wants to be in the room. NO WAY Whacko.

Re: MIL strikes again!

  • just because you have lunch with someone doesn't mean they get to watch you push a baby out. it could be seen as the eqivalent of you watching mil getting a pelvic exam.  sorry i'm saying nightmarish things so close to bedtime!

actually my mil was there for the birth of my first son.  our second we decided to keep private.

LAME!  It doesn't even sound as if your mom was there?

MIL needs to get over herself.  It is totally your call and she should respect that.  I'm pretty sure I'd get myself in trouble if MIL was in the room when I was in labor (I wouldn't be able to control what came out of my mouth). :)

  • Thanks ladies! Both of your comments made me laugh. DH tried to say that he could see where his mom was coming from abut I told him that when my mom can be in the room and stare at my husband's penis in a vulnerable situation then, and only then, can he tell me that he can see where his mom is coming from. He didn't have much to say in her defense after that- LOL!

I told MIL that if she isn't there when we're making the baby then she ain't gonna be there when i'm pushing the baby out. My Mom laughed and just told her that I'm a "private person".

I really don't get some people though. She's nucking futs...

  • I couldn't imagine my MIL being in the room when I gave birth.  My mom either...although I'd be more comfortable that way than with MIL.  Only my DH was in the room with me...even when I had CS.  Both were at the hospital...but dutifully sat in the waiting room and no one complained.  I would have told her she CAN be there...she can be in the waiting room!  lol
