body pillow positioning

Maybe the baby is affecting my braing, but.....

Does anyone else struggle with a good position of their body pillows at night? I'm either taking up the entire bed, having to move the big thing every time I turn, or smack DH with it. Any suggestions? I was so happy when MIL bought me one, but I can't figure it out! Embarrassed

Re: body pillow positioning

  • I wrap myself around mine and then occasionally sleep on my back.  There's no way I could switch sides completely without whacking DH with the pillow!

  • I don't have one, but I have been cuddling with a giant king size pillow at night. I put it between my knees when I am on my side, and sling one arm around it. the problem is I switch sides probably 5 or 6 times a night and I have to lug it around with me, usually slugging DH in the process.

  • I totally agree with you on this. Just recently I've noticed that I've had a tough time sleeping and I can't get comfortable with my body pillow. With it, I feel too trapped and hot... without it, my back hurts!!!?

  • I have the Leachco Back and Belly pillow from Amazon and I really like it.  It goes all the way around both sides so I don't have to move the pillow every time I switch sides.  Here's the link:

This is how I use mine when I am lying on my left side.  Occasionally I will feel like I need to lay on my right side and I just leave the pillow in place and roll over, pulling the bottom part of the pillow up to put between my knees and using the long part of the pillow to support my back.  There's no tummy support in this position so it may not be comfy further down the road but for now it works great!

  • I use a snoogle...I was hot last night but that is because I was wearing a long-sleeved cotton shirt so I will change into a tank tonight and see if that helps.  The snoogle, in my opinion, is not bulky....are you using a regular body pillow that you buy from a home goods store? I did consider buying one but thought it was way too bulky.

  • Pillow turns over with me.  We have a king size bed so I don't kill DH when I roll over!  However I do shake his face when he snores.
