Knowing right from left.... What age?

just wondering. We are always trying to teach DS new things and was just wondering about what age do they typically know their right from their left. I've looked online and in a couple books but can't seem to find anything.

Re: Knowing right from left.... What age?

  • dd has been solid with it since last summer.  She's 3.4 right now.  I do tell her every time I put her shoes/socks on (have since birth) so I know that is why she knows it.
  • DD learn this in tap class. ? They say "this is my left foot" as they shuffle and followed by their right....She was three when she started the class and I notice a few months ago she always got it right when asked which is left/right. ?

  • There are lots of Kindergarteners at my school who still don't know.
  • They taught my 3.5 dd at her school but I didn't figure it out until I was 7 or 8.
  • Evan learned right about the time he turned 3. ?I have no idea how he learned it, though. ?I know we never really talked about it, and his preschool teacher said they didn't go over that either. ?He just started pointing out his right foot and left foot to me one day.

  • DD learned right around when she turned 3, but we never tried to teach it to her before that...
  • DS surprised us in late Feb by proclaiming "here is my left shoe!" and putting it on his left foot. We tested him a bit with different things, and he's never been wrong. He won't be 3 until later this month.
