3rd Trimester

XP: Strapless Bra Tips

Hi there.  I'm in 2nd tri, but I was hoping you ladies could help me out.

I am very large chested.  I was a D cup before I got pregnant and they have only been getting bigger.  I'm still a D but I need a lot more support than before.

I need to wear a strapless bra to a wedding in June where I am the MOH.  One of the other bridesmaids entertained the idea of wearing see-through straps on her bra and that got nixed right away.  The bride (who has never been pg and is turning out to be somewhat of a bridezilla) suggested I wear a boustierre.  Do they make maternity boustierres?  Even if they do, I can't imagine them being very comfortable.

So.  Does anyone have any tips?  I've never worn a strapless bra before, and I'm worried my boobs will end up sitting on my belly.  Those sticky bras have worked for me before, but I don't know if they still would, or if they're "approved."

  • I would check at a specialty lingerie store.  They might be able to fit you for a strapless bra that would work and be big/supportive enough.  I've had to do that before and it's worth the time.  I don't know what bridal stores might carry, but it can't hurt to check there either.

  • I dont have any personal experience, but my sisters and I were just in my moms wedding back in December. My older sister is a DD and found the "most amazing" strapless bra from Victoria Secrets.  It really held them up nicely I might add and she has had two kids, so they have lost some of their "umph."  Good luck!
  • I would definitely frown on the boustierre idea with a growing baby bump at that point. Maybe go to like Victoria's Secret and talk with them there about fit and support -- if you don't buy a bra there, you could at least act interested enough to get some tips and find something that could work.
  • Also, if your dress isn't totally strapless, some convertible strapless bras could have straps hidden (i.e. a halter dress or one-strapped dress).
  • I was a 36DD pre-pg (still about the same size now) and NEVER was able to find a strapless bra that fit/supported well. I found this one at Kohl's:

I love, love, love it. I got a 36D and still wear it. Hopefully it'll work for you!

  • I have always had the bra cups sewn right into my dress, that way I don't have to bother with going out & buying a strapless bra or bother with maybe pulling a bra up the whole day.  My seamstress has me insert the cups while I have the dress on & then she pins them to wear she will need to sew them, I've done this for every wedding I've been in & so have my sisters & my best friend.

  • Just wanted to mention that I've always bought the bra cups at a local fabric store.
