Why my husband should have paid more attention in sex-ed

For back ground, I had the Mirena in the entire time we've been together, and never had more then a couple of hours of spotting once a month for the 3+ years it was in. We had it removed to start TTC, and this is my first normal AF since. I told my husband that he was spoilt having a wife who never gets AF.

A quick funny moment from yesterday, to show how little my husband learned as a boy in school.

DH (kissing me on the back of the neck, etc.): So what do you think about practicing baby-making?

Me: I have my "AF". Remember?

DH: But you had that two days ago.

Me: Yes ... and I still have it.

DH: But it only lasts a day .... (sheepish look on his face) .... doesn't it?

Me (laughing hard enough to ensure he's no longer in the mood): What?

DH: But... Drain and your done ... No?

Me (almost peeing my pants I'm laughing so hard, but seeing how embarrased he is): I love you.

He now realizes how much he loved my Mirena. But we're both pretty excited that a normal AF means that we can start to TTC.

This made me laugh SO HARD. "Drain and you're done?" Like we have a spigot or something...

Poor man. You might want to get him a basic book on female fertility, or at least send him the wikipedia overview. I bet he felt pretty silly.

I can relate to this. I was on Depo Provera the entire time I was with DH, until last year. When I switched to BCPs in anticipation of TTC, he realized how spoiled he had been with my lack of AF. Not that he's particularly squeamish about it... I think the only reason we don't have sex during AF is because I don't want to have to change the sheets.

You have no idea how many men in my life (father, BIL, and H) have always believed that pads are placed "sticky side up". Yeah. That's called a cooter wax dumbasses.

That is AWESOME! :-D ...I once caught my mom telling my step-dad that unlike male plumbing, female plumbing has in fact more than one hole. So you can tell DH it could be worse!

So many of your replies made me LOL (cooter wax ... giggle). Funny enough DH has three sisters and no brothers, and dated one of his exGFs for over 5 years (but they never lived together).

Not sure where his lapse in understanding of AF came from. I think it was his hormones clouding his thinking (little head taking over for his big head, as I put it).

His embarassed grin made me love him even more in that moment.

Funny! I had my first AF since we have been married this month and he, I suppose, forgot that it happens and I refered to it as Aunt Flo. Later in the day he was talking about it and said "Lady Leak, thats what you called it right?" I could not stop laughing.
