Hi ladies- I posted this on the SAL board and someone suggested I post over here:
I was wondering if any of you had karyotyping on yourself and DH after a m/c. I had a m/c and testing of fetus showed a trosomy 16. Even though it is random our RE wants us to have karyotyping to determine if we have a chromosome abnormality we could pass on, and if we do, we should do PGD with IVF. Anyone have this done?
Re: karyotyping/chromosome testing and PGD w/ IVF
I had the karyotype done about 2 years ago, (not related to M/C) with our 1st RE right before we got pregnant with Ava. They did mine b/c I had late-onset menses, I was 17 at the time. My results were normal.
I guess since the Tri16 was random, and not b/c of you guys, that I wouldn't insist on it, but if insurance covers it, or you have means to financially handle the test(s) then why not learn all you can???!! Sometimes I think REs like to run every test under the sun, though. I wouldn't worry so much about the IVF/PDG thing until you have the facts to deal with, though. That can be pretty scary, and you're not even at that fork in the road, yet.
GL !
My dh and I both had it done when we started seeing our RE. Our insurance covered it, so we figured we might as well find out. Both of our tests came back fine.
GL!!
I am so sorry for your loss.
After out last m/c we had the karyotyping done on both DH & I (as well as RPL panel). Our tests results all came back normal.
Best of luck to you.
