Preemies

March of Dimes...

I am new to being a preemie mom and new to hearing about March of Dimes. Will someone please tell me a little bit about the event and maybe what I can do to be a part of it in the future? I live in Colorado.

Thank you!

Re: March of Dimes...

  • you can visit their website at marchforbabies.org   I am unsure of what walks are in your area as I am new to this as well.   Basically the one that I am walking in is a 3 mile walk ... you get a team together and you raise money for the March for Dimes.  I am the team captain of mine and it hasn't been a hassle thus far.

Good luck with your little ones!

  • Ditto what PP said. I am also the captain and haven't done much of anything for the event which is 4/25. I am hoping I am doing what I am supposed to be doing.

I believe that most of the walks take place in April, so you should be good!

  • I have been involved in MOD since 1996 so first I want to say Congrats on being a new mom and THANK YOU for considering getting involved in MOD.  If it is for the March For Babies walk specifically please visit the website the other poster linked to.  You do not need to be a part of a team, you can also walk individually.  We encourage all participants to raise money for the cause (you can do it online which has become a HUGE success!), however, we also realize what a tough year we are in and that donations are going to be harder to come by.  Please do not be discouraged by this and come out and walk anyway!  Or contact your local chapter of March of Dimes to see if you can volunteer at the walk or during the year with other events, fundraisers, admin work at the office, greeter at the local hospital NICU, etc.

It is an amazing organization and the reason behind the possibility of so much recent research being able to be conducted and so many of the medications funded.
