Ahem. I need to AW my very first sewing project (PIP)

Re: Ahem. I need to AW my very first sewing project (PIP)

  • The armholes are a bit wonky, and it needs some finishing touches, but I think it turned our pretty good! And the colors are not nearly as garish/fluorescent as they appear.
  • Am I missing the PIP? I don't see anything.

Great job! Did you use a pattern?

What did you do when you attached the top to the skirt? It always looks flat when I do it

Yeah, I used a $4 Walmart pattern and some fabric I had leftover from a different project.

What do you mean "attach the top to the skirt"? Do you mean the part with the straps or the strip at the bottom?

    It really looks great!

I  meant the waist, where you attached the top polka dot to the flower pattern. Did you bunch it at all? Mine always seems too flat or something

Yes, I put in two loose rows of stitches at the edge, 1/4" apart, then pulled the ends to make it bunch up. It took me a few times to get it all sewn together, but the bunching was super easy.??

  • Awwww!  Very, very cute!!

    I lack bunching/shirring skills.

Great job! Make sure to post pics of S in it :)

  • It's called "gathering", ladies. :-)

Very nice. I plan to make a LOT of DDs sun dresses when she's older.

  • How adorable!  I must clear the dust off of my sewing machine and try to make Katherine some things. I bought a ton of material and patterns last summer but never got out the sewing machine. Sewing this makes me want to try!

    Great job Smile

  • That looks like you could buy it in a store.  Awesome job!  I'm so jealous.  I have no talent with sewing whatsoever.
