IVF # 1- lupron long - great response but the embryo quality was "sub-optimal" and very fragmented. # 2 -antagonist -responded well except we had 2 dominant follies and converted to an iui. With # 3, we did MDL flare and it was our winner! We responded well, only this time they all grew together and the quality was remarkably better. Both of them stuck initially. Best of luck to you!!!!!
Our miracle IVF baby - D 6/09 & J - Surprise! born 9/10!!!
I did MDL after an oversuppressed cycle that provided only 2-3 mature follies. It really was a great protocol for me!
You start with microdose lupron and then start stims after that. For a bit I was taking 5 shots a day. 2x of MDL, 2x of gonal-f, 1x of menopur. I was a pin cushion.
I ended up with 16 mature follies, 15 mature eggs. I was SHOCKED! Keep in mind that my E2 was never very high. At trigger mine was only 1563 and the follies and E2 were very slow moving in the beginning. It really only took off after 6 days of stims. I stimmed for 11 days and I just gave birth to my son last week.
Good luck and let me know if you have any other questions about MDL.
Yes, this was our first protocol and it worked also! My injections started with the MD lupron on a Friday and did that for Fri and Sat. and then on Sunday started stims. I had shots at 7am and 7pm with Lupron, Menopur, and Follistim. I was originally prescribed Gonal-F but since I was paying out of pocket I asked my RE if I could do Follistim and he had no problem since it is just a different brand. I think I saved around 1k doing it that way. I had stimmed for 8 days total and retrieved 8 eggs and all fertilized. We put back 2 5dt blasts and they both stuck.?
MDL was the winner for me!! did antagonist for IVF #1, MDL for #2. if you go to my blog (link below) my protocol and response is listed along the left side, for both #1 and #2. also more details on MDL in july-aug 08 posts. i think it is an awesome protocol in the right cases!
