Babies: 9 - 12 Months

Jo's butt.

Has a rash.

We're off to the pedi tomorrow. I've never seen a rash like this one. Its weird. Just pimply things all over her bits and her butt.

she's never had a rash before. This might make me switch to cloth. Anyone had a rash like this with their kiddo?

Poor Jo's butt.

Ick.

Re: Jo's butt.

  • Poor Jo.  I don't know what that could be.  The only rashes M ever gets are yeast rashes and it doesn't sound like the same thing.

  • Ouch! That doesn't sound very comfy. I hope it isn't bothering her too much, and hopefully it's something that can be cleared up quickly.
  • It sounds like it might be a yeast infection.  Baby Iris had a bad rash like that and we treated it with jock itch cream and it cleared right up.

I hope Jo's butt gets better soon!

  • Sounds like yeast. DS has it right now.  Not fun
  • My husband the nurse is confuddled. She's never had a rash before the pimply things are scary. She doesn't seem phased, thank goodness. Still worth a visit to the pedi IMO.

  • Sounds like a yeast infection. Our pedi suggested some over the counter cortizone and to (*GASP*) lay off on the wipes. GL! Hope her bum feels better soon!
  • DD had a rash like that and it was Staph. Antibiotics and vaseline are what finally cleared it up.

I hope her butt is all better soon!

I am a nurse too..rashes in kids are scary and weird.  You may need to go to a derm, not just the pedi.  They cultured Bradys rash and gave us some Nystatin.  It seems to be getting better.
  • Is she teething? Ben had a rash like the one you're describing last week.  I used some Earth's Best diaper ointment and it's 98% gone now.

He also had a horrific rash a few months ago.  There were lesion like patches all over his bottom.  It went from bad to worse so quickly one day, he was screaming that night when I wiped him...and I was barely touching him.  They oozed.  It was disgusting.  Turns out, it was fungal and the pedi prescribed 3 different ointments to get rid of it.

Hope Jo's bum is back to normal soon!

  • We had a rash like that and it was a yeast infection.  Pedi recommended Lotrimin AF and it cleared it up in a couple of days.

  • Thanks so much all, I just get worried. :( She's such a cutie. And I don't want her to have a sore butt. :(
  • Poor Jo! I hope you can get it cleared up soon!
