Baby Names

Why do ALL boy names sound the same to me?!

When we were pg with our first (a girl) I had a list of names that I loved and throughout the pregnancy started narrowing it down. I thought the same thing would work this time but I only have a few names on my list and I really don't LOVE any of them (just names that I heard and wanted to remember to consider). It seems boys names are either way too trendy for my liking or there are a bazzillion little boys with the name or some derivative. ugh!!!! Silly me, I thought naming a boy would be easier.

  • I hear ya.  I don't know what I'm having yet, but I have a very good girls' name list with quite a few names I would seriously consider.  My boys list sucks because the names I like are taken by my friends and family, and what's left out there I just do not like.  I almost want to name my boy Sebastian!

I actually have a family friend who named their son sebastian.

  • I completely understand! I had a whole list of girl names that I highly considered and then easily found a favorite. Not so with the boys. To me boy names are either too common or too trendy. Part of the problem too is that many boy names are now being used as girl names and that just ruins them for me. After months of trying to figure it out and not liking anything we are pretty set on just using my maiden name followed by my husband's middle. Good luck!!!
  • I have the opposite problem -- DH and I have a long list of boy names that we love but only a few girl names, and none that we are both really crazy about.
  • I totally agree! I have time, but am in the same boat.  I could name 30 girls, but the idea of naming 1 boy has me biting my nails!

I am worried about it sounded to "girly" or trendy or know someone with the name that I would NOT want to name my son after!

  • Try naming your THIRD boy! ?I agree, though. ?So many boy names are fine, but they just don't stand out to me.
