Busy ball popper question

Dumb question, but we got the playskool busy ball popper for dd and it says when you push that plunger the balls are supposed to fly out but it won't push down and they don't fly.  We returned the first one because we thought it was broken but now this new one has the same problem.  Is there something we are doing wrong? Thanks!

Did you put batteries in it?  I believe it calls for 4 "D" batteries.

Yeah, we put the batteries in.  I just didn't know if there was something else you are supposed to do? Although it looks like a simple toy, but what are the odds that 2 are broken? When you push the thing, it makes noise but doesn't play the song....

Hmmm, when you hit that red thing the fan thing should start blowing and a song plays and the balls start to pop out.  The only other thing on there besides batteries is the on/off switch.  Odds of 2 being broken would be weird IMO.  Are there 5 balls in there?  The only time the balls didn't pop was when my neighbor put in balls that were just a hair too big for the tube but we just took it apart and got the balls out.  If the batteries are in and the thing is turned on, it should be working.

Ok that is what it sounded like from the directions, but since this is the 2nd time it happened I thought maybe we were missing something...Yeah, there are 5 balls in there....we tried it with all 5, we tried it with one...this is wierd! It looked like a cool toy....now DH doesn't want to get another one since it happened twice, for those of you with working toys, is it a good toy and worth trying again?

Yes, it is a good toy and worth trying again!!!

We had the same problem at first with ours (but we got ours from a friend for free as a hand-me-down). I just replaced the batteries and it has worked fine ever since.

Maybe try replacing the batteries.  If it still doesn't work, take it back and get another one.  My son LOVES this toy.  I think it is an awesome one and definitely worth trying a 3rd time.  Who knows....3rd time is a charm right?!

We tried new batteries and it worked!!  Thanks for the suggestion!  I'm not sure why the other batteries didn't work, they were brand new, but at least it isn't the toy.  Thanks again!  We are off to play!
