  • At first, my insurance wouldn't pay for it. It was $63/pill. But when they realized that I was taking 6 a day, at a cost of well over a thousand dollars, my pharmacist got them to pay.

  • It's outrageously expensive. ?Are you sure your insurance won't cover it? ?I can't remember for sure but I think mine came to like $25/pill.?

my ins only covers 12 a month which clearly is not going to help my vomiting 4-5 times a day. I've spoken with RE about it and he wasn't much help and basically said my m/s should be ending soon. (even though some women have it way into 2nd and 3rd tri). I'm going to have to order some more and pay oop unfortunately.

  • I just realized you girls are talking about Zofran for morning sickness! Jax takes it because of his violent vomiting due to reflux! I never knew it was so expensive. (He's on Medicaid due to his diability) He takes it 3-4x's a day liquid form - I'm going to peek next time and see how much it costs - yowza!
  • Can you at least get the generic brand? That might be a bit cheaper. I took it and it is called Ondanstetron or something very close to that. My insurance makes me take the generic when its available.

  • Zofran did nothing for me. I use phenergan (Sp) for me it was so much better. I have all day sicken, the whole time.

  • My insurance paid for it - I remember calculating how much debt we would be in if we had to pay for it oop.  For 18 pills, it was over $1,000.  I just had to make a $15 co-pay.
  • My insurance said they wouldn't pay, but this wonderful nurse from my OB's office who is the main contact person for all expecting moms called them and petitioned for them to pay. It started that they said they would only allow 12 a month; she finally got them up to 60 a month.

I guess I'm just saying, see what you can do because it CAN be changed. If there isn't someone in the doc's office to help you, maybe call yourself? It was the only way I managed to function for weeks 7 - 17.
  • The Ondansetron was $54 a pill! I was so glad when they were able to just put it in my PICC.

  • My ins covers the generic only, so that's what I took until 30w (when I could finally stop!) I'd look into appealing, petitioning, etc. talk to your doctor, talk to your employer, they should be able to work with you. If not, talk to your doctor about other options since it's not feasible to pay OOP for Zofran for any period of time. Good luck.?
  • I hope it's not too late and you see this.  Costco carries the ondansetron at a very reasonable price.  No other pharmacies come even close.  I think it's about $40 for 30 8mg pills.  I'm not a MoM but I had severe hyperemesis and sadly know way too much about Zofran.
