Baby Names

Another girl name...

Yes, this is how slow it's going, we can only come up with one name at a time. We don't even have a "list" because everything I like, he hates. So yesterday it was Adelle. He hated it (he was like "a deli!" ugh, men! lol)

So I have been going back a few pages on this board to see what everyone else is coming up with, and I found a post suggesting Gracyn. DH likes more traditional names, and I like a little more unusual names because I grew up a Sara, sharing my name in every grade. We thought of Grayson for a boy, but we love our boy name (Trey), so we would have to store it away for later anyway. :)

Gracyn? Anyone? Middle names? Thanks so much, ladies!

Re: Another girl name...

  • I'm not opposed to unisex names, but I do prefer Grayson for a boy.

What are some of the names DH likes?

  • That's the thing, he isn't coming up with anything. Our first girl name we liked was Oakley (or Oakleigh), but I'm really just not sold on it, and he still likes that one. So it's pretty much up to me to do the name-finding.

  • Wasn't Hadley one of the names? I still think that's pretty cute.
  • Harper was one of them. But I like Hadley...

Our last name starts with H and I think H names sound good together, but DH's grandparents named all their kids H names, and then so did DH's aunt, so there are A LOT of H names. That's the only reason I'm not totally crazy about Hadley.

  • I've never been a fan of unisex names, even if they are spelled differently. Gracyn for some reason just doesn't sound feminine to me when it is said (maybe bc I now associate Grayson as male). The spelling looks feminine though. I know you don't want a super popular name but Grace sounds better to me. Sorry, I'm of no help for a mn.
  • I really like it. I think its cute and you can call her Grace for short.

I have never hear Oakley for a girl but its super cute.

For a nn she could be called lee, because oak would be silly.

And, I really like your boy name, Trey.

Good luck, and make yourself a list so when baby comes you have a few names to choose from. You never know who she or he will look like!

PS. Our last name starts with an H as well and we named our son Haden and I love the sound of this first and last name together. However our next childs name will not start with an H, I think that would just be going overboard.

  • I only like Grayson for a boy.  But that is just me.  I love the name!
  • Adelle is very pretty. I think Grayson Trey sounds nice, and I'm not a fan of either name. If the Bump is any indication, Grayson/Greyson is becoming very popular - but don't go by here. "Gracyn" looks like your trying to feminize a masculine sounding name or you don't know how to spell it. I'd stick with your original choice and go with Trey.
  • There is a girl in DD's daycare class named Gracyn.  Knowing how it's spelled makes me think more of the name Grace so it does seem feminine to me.  Maybe it sounds weird but I like Gracyn for a girl but not a big fan of Grayson.

  • I connected it with Grace first, before I thought of the boy name Grayson.  So I think it could work nice for a girl.  If DH only likes traditional names though, that might not work.  I also like Gracelyn too.  As for middle names, perhaps something more traditional would appease DH.  I like Rose, Ann, Catherine, Faith, Jane, Lillian, Madeline, Penelope, Rachel, Rebecca, Samantha, and Susannah.

  • Thanks so much for all of your help! I was thinking he would like it more since it is close to a traditional name that he likes (Grace), but was almost too common for me.

I texted Gracyn to him and he said it was better than any of the others and he would think about it. We may have made an agreement. lol

Gracyn sounds made up. I'm not a fan at all.?
  • Trey is a very common nickname for boys that are the "III"....I don't think of it as a name for anyone else...but I could be wrong.
  • I knew a couple of girls in high school named Grayson and they were both beautiful, cool girls. ?I love the name, but I would spell it Grayson, not Gracyn. ?I have not actually met any guys named Grayson, so it doesn't really strike me as a super masculine name.
