Diaper rash

DS has a horrible diaper rash and he has never had any before.  I have no idea what might be causing it or what I can do to make it go away.  I think the Creamy Desitin burns because he really screams when I put that on.  The regular Desitin seems better, but isn't taking it away.  What do you guys use?  Any ideas what could be causing it? No changes in diet that I can think of...hmmm...

He might just be crying when it goes on b/c his butt hurts, not necessarily the creamy desitin.  I think that is what happens with my DD.

Can you let him run around without a diaper for a while tomorrow?  Triple Paste Butt Paste works for us sometimes too when the Desitin doesn't.

Is he on any antibiotics?  DD will get it when she is on medicine.

Boudreaux's butt paste.  Works wonders.  Hope your LO gets better soon.

desitin clear. if it hurts when you wipe his bottom - spray a quick spray of dermaplast on his booty.

Sometimes because of whatever DD ate last if we don't get her diaper changed within a minute or two it causes a red rash.  We've found that even Bourdoux's Butt paste burns her then, we use vaseline on it and it seems to help.  She has sensitive skin though.

I only use Desitin (the purple tube) when Jack has a bad rash. He screams and tells me it burns and then asks for Butt Paste. I use Butt Paste when it's not a bad rash.

I ahve always been told not to use Desitin on a bad rash.  I use the Butt Paste and its awesome. Also, don't use a wipe when cleaning while the rash is still there as that might burn.  Just use a wet wash cloth or paper towel and make it warm.

If dc gets a lot of diaper rashs call your pedi and see if you can get a prescription for a hydrocortisone/nystatin/zinc oxide mixture.  It's amazing!  DD was getting quite a few and our pedi gave it to us and it will take a rash away in no time.  Otherwise I've used the Butt Paste before with pretty good results.
