Headaches!!!

Hi everyone,

I was wondering if anyone had experienced more headaches than normal during pregnancy and what did you do to relieve them. I'm 6 weeks today and I've started to notice the headaches over the past week. TIA.

Re: Headaches!!!

  • I have, mostly allergy related since I am off the good meds.  I normally use ice and rest my eyes for like 10 mins and it can take the edge off of it.

  • I've also been getting a lot of headaches.  It was one of the first signs for me since I never normally got headaches before.  Luckily mine are fairly mild, so I haven't needed to take anything.  It seems like drinking a lot of water and eating when I'm hungry helps to minimize them.

  • Yes, I have been getting horrible headaches sine the beginning.

  • SLEEP!

I suffer from migraines and luckly since i got pregnant they stopped (i guess i should always be pregnant). but i do get occasional headaches and i just put a cold towel on my head and take a nap.

  • yea, headaches are the worst... but you can take Tylenol!! so stock up !
  • I pretty much have them now all day every day.  Terrible.  I have been taking Tylenol but I haven't been taking near to my "normal nonpregnancy" dose so it doesn't really touch them.
  • I started to get them last week but they will stay for days at a time even with napping, cold towel AND Tylenol. My doctor told me to drink some caffeine  ( I usually never drank coke or coffee before so I know it wasn't withdrawals)  It got so bad over the weekend that I had to get some meds from my ob. She just said to use it on those headaches that won't go away. So the process is 1st drink plenty of fluids because dehydration is one of the main causes then take Tylenol and lay down and nap then if that doesn't work drink a coke and then last is taking Fieorset ( I think thats what it is called) but obviously talk to your doctor first to see what s/he thinks you should do.
  • Thanks for all the advice. I guess I'm confused though because I thought that Tylenol was not ok and to avoid caffine? I've heard tea is ok and that acetemenophin (sp) should be used instead of Tylenol?
