B-day party time ?

I promise this is my last b-day party question :-)

Since starting at her daycare center Piper has gotten into a regular schedule of napping from approx. 12:30-2:30 - right during most people's lunch hour. We decided to go with a restaurant luncheon (hopefully pizza) for her party. Would it be too early to have it at 11:00 am? I figured that was better than starting it at 3:00 or so when people have probably already eaten lunch.

  • I think 11 AM is totally fine for a kid's birthday party!  That should work out well for all of you.

  • I think 11 would be fine! Just don't do it at 7 like I just went to last friday. Seriously, who has a 2 year old's party at 7pm?!

  • Megan, some friends of ours did this when we visited DH's family over Christmas.  They had their daughter's party at 7 PM on a MONDAY night.  Now granted it was during the holidays, but still!  We just went for an hour and Justin was a disaster by the time we left.  And they still had more than half the party to go!

A party that starts at 7 sounds like it's more for the benefit of the parents, to me.   ;)

  • I think 11 works fine since that gives you time to chat a bit then eat lunch then open gifts/eat cake. Dang that just made me think of how much I want some sweets right now. :)
  • Katie, you are right. I think it was more for the parents. Which I don't understand because all of our friends have little kids (under 4 yrs old)  or they are pregnant. you would think they understand this but they don't. I managed to keep Ryan there until 8:30 and we left while they were eating cake. We were the first ones to leave. The same thing happened at the super bowl party with my friends. we were the only ones to leave at half time because we knew we needed to get Ryan in bed. The rest of them  stayed for the whole game. Those poor little kids had to be exhausted!

  • I might be the odd man out here, but I would think it was a little early if I was invited.  Not sure how many kids are invited or what not, but I know we sometimes have trouble getting out of the house in time for the earlier parties that we go to.  Would it be possible to make it around 4 and have it be either a late lunch or early dinner?
