X-Post--formula question

Hi,

 

my son was born six weeks premature, and as a result we are mainly feeding him neosure formula that is mixed with less water than the package instructions to make sure he gets enough calories (24 calorie recipe). I also give him as much breast milk as I can, but that's not much. He's been doing this since birth six weeks ago.

 

He's made a lot of weight gain and eats a lot and is now over eight pounds. For the past three days he's been pooping a ton (for him at least)--every 2-3 hours. I am wondering if he has "outgrown" his formula, in other words, is it too rich for him now that he is bigger. He also has a bad diaper rash. The pedi office call in nurse thinks no, but I am wondering if other have experienced this.

I haven't heard of any babies "outgrowing" the enriched formula. We kept C on 24 calories until she was around 13 pounds.  But if your pedi agrees, you can maybe try to wean him down to see if that helps I guess.
