I have been signing "all done" to Ellie for as long as I can remember, but she's never done it back. I also do "more" regularly, and a couple times she has clapped for more, but never done it correctly. Well, this morning as I was feeding her breakfast and eating my cereal, I looked over and she was spontaneously signing "all done." I said, "All done?" and she did it several more times as if to say, "Yeah, Mom, I'm done, now get me out of here." Then just now at lunch, I gave her a drink from her sippy cup, sat the cup back on the table and she signed "more!" Again I said, "More?" and she did it again. She kept taking sips from her sippy cup, grinning and signing more. I think she was thrilled that she was getting results. So am I! Finally! Apparently she woke up this morning and decided today would be the day she'd start signing. Now I'll have to see if she does any more signs, since apparently her brain is ripe for it.

That's great! It almost seems like it was a relief to Nora when she learned a couple signs. Ellie will be so happy she is understood!

That's awesome! Maggie and I are taking a signing class starting in March, I hope it helps us communicate better together.

Way to go, Ellie! What a big step! I am waiting for this time and for now I just look like the crazy lady signing to a baby who just stares at her.
