diaper rash

Ben *hates* his diaper being changed but this morning he screamed bloody murder when I took his diaper off for bathtime. He has a diaper rash and its especially prominent more towards the back which is the reason I might not have seen it (hes almost impossible to change so I have to do it with lightening speed) I know the best remedy is ointment and/or airing out. Well I can't air out because we've given him too many blueberries this week and so needless to say he's dirtied at least 3-4 diapers a day. Is there anything else I can do for him? This is the first time Ive dealt with a diaper rash

Re: diaper rash

  • Nora has had a couple bad rashes and with both of them, they cleared up with Lotrimin cream. The reasoning behind this is some rashes are caused by yeast. I wouldn't have realized this if it wasn't for Nora's pedi pointing it out. I'm not sure if it's the case with Ben, but it's worth looking into.

  • We also use lotramin.  Try baking soda in the bath.

  • Some tips our pedi gave us when Adah had bad rash:

-use a blow dryer set on low/cool to get him really dry (this obv. won't work if you can't get him to stay still)

-wipe his diaper area and get it as dry as you can every time you change him, even if he's only wet, then slather on diaper cream (we like A&D or Aquaphor better than Desitin)

-wash the area with anti-bacterial soap when you bathe him.

Hope it gets better soon! ?When Adah had that stomach bug back in Dec. she would scream bloody murder when I wiped her...it was awful!?
