pting question

so ds is pretty good w/ pting.  he'll use the potty almost exclusively when we're home.  he just gets a diaper for naps & bed (and to have a bm when he asks).  he tries to use the potty at daycare, but is not really successful.  he seems to use his diaper instead.  at home he's diaperless which i think is the key.  he has to stop what he's doing and get a diaper or potty.

i'd like to send him to daycare in undies and they're ready when he is.  the problem is, he will not wear undies!  do i send him commando or wait until he wears undies?  he doesn't seem to get the concept and thinks they're just cool new diapers.  he's in cloth so i don't know if it's a fabric thing or if all kids do this.  thoughts?

Re: pting question

  • hmmm...I don't know the answer but now you have me wondering if that is why my otherwise cloth diapered kid doesn't hesitate to wet his pants when he's in undies?  He calls them big boy underwear...but you may be on to something.

  • I wish I had the answer for you, but you are not alone. My DS also hates undies.  We have always used disposable diapers so for him it is not a cloth diaper thing.  I can tell by the way he tugs at them that he just hates the way they feel on him.  I suppose they are just way tighter than his diaper ever is.  Anyway, I've let him go commando a little bit at home.  This weekend I bought him some boxer briefs and I'm hoping that maybe those will fit different and feel more comfortable for him.  I think I may just call them shorts too cause he definitely knows he does not like his "big boy undies".  Good luck, glad to know my DS is not the only anti-undies boy out there!
