we tried it around four months, but they weren't ready for it, so we started for real closer to 6 months. we did put some in a bottle at first, but mostly it was just on a spoon.
My pediatrician gave us the okay to start rice cereal with the twins when at their 4 month visit.
I started out giving them about an oz a day. He also said at 4 months we could start veggies/fruits.
currently, they do 1 oz of cereal in the morning. A bowl (1st food jar) of veggie or cereal around 2 or so and then 2 oz of cereal about an 1.5 hours before bed.
we just started this week with Brady. I was waiting to see at our 6 month check up if it was okay since the kiddo is rather premature. We mixed up a little cereal with some formula and introduced the spoon to him...I just updated my blog with the photos
the doc said at this point it's just a "treat" and not a meal suppliment yet. There's no rules (other than to check with your doc before starting it)..you can give as much or as little as your baby wants, and slowly introduce one at a time following.
Re: When did you start Oatmeal/Rice Cereal???
at 6 months- not recommended until then (unless your pedi says otherwise-i.e. for severe reflux)
p.s. you should NEVER give them cereal in the bottle...its a HUGE choking risk
oh sheesh... I didn't mean for that to sound so rude... Im sorry
i meant it in an informative way....*Slaps hand*
bowl and spoon is how we did it
