What do you think of the name - Lyla?

I watched "August Rush" last night and it's the mom's name.

Do you like it? And how would you pronouce this?

(I'm picky about our future kids having names like Anna, Andrea, etc where it could be pronounced two ways)

i had a friend growing up and her name was lyla, i always thought it was so pretty.

her's was pronounce like lie-la.

Wait, and I've only ever heard Anna pronounced "ann-a." I thought it was spelled Ana for "ah-na."

I love this name it is on our list but we would spell it Lila

my gut reaction is to pronounce it "lie-la". I don't really like it, well, now that i'm saying it over in my head, maybe it's not too bad. but it's not my style.

FWIW my name is Andrea and I get at least 4 different variations of my name, I've gotten used to it and usually i only need to tell people 1 time how I pronounce it and they remember.

I love it! I wanted to go with a lily or lila myself, but DH has trouble saying two L's in a row. He was in speech therapy as a kid.

Anna Faris is spelled Anna and it's pronounced Ana (Awn-a). I'm sure there's others, just the only one I can think of right now...

Just a pet peeve of mine for my kids. I also don't like names that could be boy/girl names like Terry, Chris, Tracy, etc. (my name's Kelly)

I like the name, but I wouldn't use it for myself. I would thinks its pronounced like "lie - la", like kyla. The pronunciation problem would always come up for a girl with this name. I had a difficult last name to pronounce growing up and I now have an easy last name and I want a simple or cut and dry pronunciation for our kids names.
