Tattoo's of your childs name?

I am not a big fan of tattoos to begin with, but what are your thoughts of tattooing your childs name on your body or Dh's? I am trying to think what I would think if my mom or dad had a tattoo with my name on it.

I guess there are a lot of things to factor such as size, location, what else is with the name. I dont know its just NMS.?

I wonder what the name will like like when your 90 years old. ?

I told DH he should get DS's name tattooed. DH already has two other ones. I think it would depend on the location, etc.

This is where I'm at on it. My sister did this with her first child...but the art is terrible, not attractive at all and totally NMS. That being said, if it was done well I would consider it.

I can understand if the child died, but I would not tattoo my kid's name to my body if he/she was still alive.

My husband and I both have tattoos but I'm not sure if I'll do DS' name or not. If anything, it would depend on where I'd put it and most likely I wouldn't do a name but some kind of symbol or something. I doubt it though.

I think if you already have other tattoos it is a nice thing, you already found other things that were important enough to you to put on your body, why not your child? But if it isn't your style, then there really is no need. We have plenty to remind us of our children (staring at stretch marks...)

I have several tattoos already and am planning on getting one for each of my children with their names and birth dates.

If your not into tattoos to begin with I can understand why it would be hard to understand.

I have 2 very small tattoos in places that are not visible and do not want anymore, so I am clearly not against them. But I don't think I would ever tattoo someone's name on my body...not even my child.

My sister just got all 3 of her children on the middle of her back. I hate it.

I have 2 tattoos from my teenage years that I hate now. I would never get another one.

DH (who has no tatoos now) has decieded he going to get the foot imprint, very small on his back with the date, then if we have more DC he will add their feet under it so as to make like the "foot prints in the sand" type line. I was suprised that he wanted to do it but I think it is a creative idea with the ablity to add more later.

I agree with this post. Dh and i both have tattoos. Though he only has two i have six, it was his idea for us to get tattoos of Ds name. But again it depends on your personality and views of tattoos. Several of mom's i know have done this as well.

This is what my DH is doing as well except on his side on the ribs. He is not a fan of adding names but he thought he would do the little footprint and then each child will walk up his side. I thought it was a cute idea (i gave it to him ha!) I haven't decided yet if i will do anything. We both have tattoos so its not something new for us.

My DH is the tackiest (no offense to those who have this) but he wants to get the picture of the baby tattooed on his back. He doesn't have any tattoos he just thinks it would be cool. I'm putting my foot down and telling him no.

I have my DS's name tattooed on my lrft wrist. It's actually in my mom's handwriting (she passed away 18 days before DS was born...) It's small enough that my watch band covers it up... I love it.

I plan on doing the same thing on my right wrist after DD is born. My mom left me a note before she died and I am going to take the letters of her name from that and piece it together.

I also have 3 other little tattoos- I think if youre a tattoo person, it's just one more, probably MORE meaningful, thing to add to your body!!

To each their own, but I will most likely get some sort of tattoo for the baby. I already have 4, and I want another one anyway so it seems fitting. I'm not sure if I'll get her name or maybe just something related, like something to do with her birth stone.

DH has something like 12 tattoos. You would never know it as they aren't in places you can see when he's dressed to go out. He plans to tattoo baby's footprint on him with the birthdate or something...IDK where or all the details just yet. Doesn't bother me one bit.

I have one tattoo on my right foot. I don't plan on tattooing anything baby related on my body though.

I have 4 tattoos. I would consider getting my son's name. I love every single one of my tattoos, each one has a sentimental reason as to why I have it.
