Zenya...

I meant it seems harsh of my friend, though she had a new baby due any day when her 3 year old pulled that stunt and kept it up for a month so I am not criticising her much for it in my head because I know you get desperate when you know you're going to have a newborn too.

But no, I would never do that. Obviously. Heavens, me???? Get 3rd party CIO?

You're quite right to be incredulous.?

Re: Zenya...

  • OK good!! I can't think of anything worse than letting C CIO cry with a stranger. Talk about trauma!

  • I think they kind of vary between "advising" the parents about how to do it, and staying to supprot them right up to being the "authority" so a kid who pushes their parents boundaries has a brake on them. That's the theory. In practice I agree with you entirely. Obviously.

Anyway... I found it amusing and alarming to return here and find CIO is so much more entrenched than even in the US (and DS got expelled from childcare because we would not do it at 5 months!).

Here there are residential facilities where you can go for 3 nights to do it in their "sleep labs" and monitor the kid from another room. Freaky. I heard of someone who wanted to do that until she discovered you had to stay, you couldn't just drop the kid off at the door. LOL. In an appalled kind of LOLing way.?

  • That is appalling!  And sad that is entrenched in culture there, too.  None of my friends at home are parents so I am not really sure what it's like at home.  I'd say it's pretty bad too though.
