I told my mom on the phone, my best friend via text because she was at work and I couldn't wait. My wife called her mom - she was not very nice. Other than that, I've mentioned it to my boss and co-workers. We don't have a lot of people to tell but we still want to make an official announcement asap. We are thinking about trying to create our own baby announcement picture instead of using one of the templates to be more personal. We wanted to wait until our first ultrasound next week before we do that so we have a picture to put with it. So excited!
I immediately texted my sisters out of excitement.
We just told my MIL last night. We bought her a cute mug that says "Grandma" on it (this will be her first grandchild). She cried when she opened it! It was very sweet.
We're having our maternity photos taken in July. Our photographer's style is very candid editorial oriented and instead of posed photos, it'll just be pretty hiking pictures where I'm visibly pregnant. It'll be a surprise announcement to anybody outside of our immediate circle.
We are getting our first ultrasound this week, we're still really early so don't expect to see much but we'll be given an ultrasound picture. We are going to try and take our own announcement picture with a bunch of stuff we have for her and then post it on Valentine's Day. We have already told our Mom's and friends but just a general announcement that she's pregnant to the world!
My brother and his wife were the first to know. It was a FaceTime call and they absolutely freaked out in the best way. We decided to add my mom to the call later too. My mom is my best friend, so there’s no way I could hide it from her until the second trimester, even if I am a “long distance daughter.” I’ve been absolutely laid out for the past week, so it’s nice being able to call my mom and complain. My SO is away for training for a couple of months, so it’s nice to have support.
This is our first time navigating this all so somewhat playing it by ear. I’m about 5 weeks and only my husband and midwife know. It’s hard seeing family members without telling them but my mom and MIL don’t keep secrets well 🤣 and we feel like they should be the first to know so probably going to wait to tell them until at least 8 weeks. And then waiting to officially announce until 2nd trimester. Still need to decide how to tell everyone.
I remember the time. There was no special occasion or event. Just invited my MIL and my mum for dinner, which we usually do. Then, in the middle of the dinner, I announced my pregnancy. Guess what they looked like after hearing it?
