Gestational diabetes test results

Hi guys - I got my results back from the 1 hour gestational diabetes test, and my glucose was flagged as being low (67mg/dl). I'm waiting on a call back from my doctor, but has anyone else had this issue?  My doctor talked about the concerns of glucose being too high, but we never discussed the opposite scenario and now I'm a little freaked.

I don't know much about hyperglycemia during pregnancy. You will probably need to go through the 3h test.
In my case, since it only happened once in a while, I had to eat a portion of glucose to get my sugar back up (a spoonful of honey or a cup of fruit juice for example) when I was under 70. If I was close but not under 70, but I was still experiencing symptoms of low blood sugar, I had to eat a fruit or a mix of glucose and fiber to elevate my blood sugar a bit, but less drastically.

If the 3h test is too low or too high, your doctor's recommendations will probably to meet with a nutritionist to make sure your diet is approppriated to your situation and from there they'll established how to better deal with your low blood sugar.

    Good luck!!

  • I had this issue too. When I took my 1 hour glucose test, I scored a 67 also. After looking at up, i learned that that is considered to be too low so I talked to my doctor and she said it was fine. I sometimes get super dizzy, hot, fainty, nauseous spells where I feel like I could pass out and I start to sweat. I'm wondering if this has something to do with this low number. I can't imagine what it would have scored had I not drank the glucose drink? I am confused as to why I did not get a call about this as well, for being too low.
  • @hannahftm00 have you had any other blood work done throughout pregnancy, and how were your glucose levels those times? My doctor ultimately said that since I was close to the "normal" range, and my glucose levels were normal two weeks prior in other blood work, they didn't think it was necessary to test it further.  Agreed though... I wondered the same thing... what would my glucose be if I didn't just have that sugary drink.
