March 2025 Babies

8 Week Abdominal Ultrasound and not able to see heartbeat yet, anyone else?

Has anyone else had an early abdominal scan and not been able to see the heartbeat yet and everything be ok? I went for a private scan today at 8 weeks and 2 days and they did an abdominal scan, we were able to see the baby, yolk sac, umbilical cord etc, but not able to see the heartbeat. Is this normal? The tech didn’t seem worried and said baby is probably still too small! My gut tells me everything is ok, but still can’t help but be a little nervous… anyone else?? I will add I’m still having all the pregnancy symptoms and haven’t had any bleeding or cramping etc. Also I’m due in April but won’t let me join the community, so sorry for crashing March 2025 🙏🏽

They did a transvaginal ultrasound at my 8 week appointment, and even at 13 weeks they also did a transvaginal because they could see a lot more than on the stomach.
  • @zeddy1817 My Dr won’t do abdominal before 12 weeks. Vaginal only because the baby is still too small for good visual otherwise!

  • I had my first ultrasound at 8 weeks exactly and it was done abdominally. My doctor always does abdominal first and if that doesn’t pick it up then he will try transvaginal. That said, my 8 week abdominal u/s showed his heartbeat, it was visible and audible. It’s possible your dates were off and you were actually a little earlier than 8 weeks and that would explain why you couldn’t see it!
