Today is the big day and we are telling my twin boys (8 next week) that they are going to be big brothers at the end of the year! We've already decided how to tell them.
But we haven't planned for explaining "how the baby got in there". I'm slightly ashamed to admit they are WAY more sheltered than I ever was. My mom, ever the over the top ICU nurse, used to sit me and my brother down in front of the TV every year when the PBS special, "The Miracle of Life" came on. Aside from that, we also had a whole barnyard of animals who were breeding and giving birth all the time. So I had it figured out at a young age. My boys... not so much. We have animals. But they are all fixed and with the amount of wildly inappropriate stuff on TV, we haven't really let them watch much (which is fine because there'snothing outside of No Demo Reno and Out Daughtered that they are really interested in). Not so much so they don't know how things work, but more not to be over sexualized and confused about appropriate behavior. We've been very clear when asked about body parts: what they are, the correct terms, and mostly how they work. But also how they are private and no one except you should be touching them, unless its a doctor and mommy and daddy have been informed and are there with you and said it's OK.
So here's the question: what movies/videos/resources have you found that are scientifically and biologically accurate that explains things in an age appropriate way? Like "Miracle of Life" as mentioned above if you are old enough to remember what that is. I'd like something that shows them to full course of fetal development from start to finish without horrifying them. They are pretty tender hearted and far more innocent than I ever was.
I can already see the looks of horror coming when they realize their dad defiled their beloved and perfect mother. 🤣🤣🤣
