Trying to Get Pregnant

Trigger shot- if anyone will read and reply

Hello, I (35f) and hubby (40m) have been ttc for almost a year and a half now. We found no issues with my stuff, but found him to have a low count. We had a chemical pregnancy almost a year ago. Around the beginning of this year, we started going to reproductive endocrinology. We have done 2 rounds of iui, with clomid, ovidrel, and progesterone suppositories for me, and we are on our 3rd cycle with all the meds but we did TIC this time due to work schedule conflict. First of all, IUI process is not fun. I'm almost not sure why it's a thing if so few people actually get pregnant with it (congrats to those who did). But I really don't like the trigger shot. I always get pregnancy symptoms, so it's a punch in the gut or worse to have that, then bfn. So I am currently 10 days post trigger shot, 8 dpo. I've been having increased urination since like a day or 2 after the shot, and still going. I've had intermittent nausea, and typically oddly smell onions in places that they aren't. Though this morning, the smell was just... dirty. For a day or 2, been having tender beats, but mostly in the nips. It just sucks because I'm right in the middle between the tail end of the shot, possible early pregnancy, and on progesterone... and I'm not able to tell what is causing what! Also, everytime i pee, I feel like I'm still full (but not uti like). I've learned my lesson about testing early and am waiting to the day I am told to test. Just wanted to vent and see if anyone out there have had similar experiences or just any input. I feel like I could write forever about my experiences and symptoms.

Hey there. We have some established boards/posts that may be helpful to talk with people in your situation.

We aren’t in a treated cycle right now but yea the trigger shots kinda suck. No one told me they would cause positive tests the first time around years ago so that was fun for the mental health.

Anyhow. Hope your stay here with us is short and as easy as possible.

  • @jkanz22: as @bumbly_b23, we discourage one off posts here because we have many targetted threads that helps organize conversations / questions and brings a sense of community and continuity that is generally lacking in forums. If you'd like to hang around, please introduce yourself in the latest Newbie Intros threads and feel free to hop into either the daily TWW or WTO threads, or the weekly IF thread.

Also, as a caution, you're technically breaking one of the board rules, which is asking in a roundabout way if you might be pregnant. These posts can get you blocked / banned from this forum.

@bumbly_b23 Why does nobody warn us about this?!! For me it was a trigger for IVF/egg retrieval, so at least I knew I wasn’t actually pregnant, but they had me take a home test to “confirm the trigger had been effective.” And ugh, having the first and only positive test I’ve seen be a total fake was rough 😕
  • I'm not asking if I'm pregnant. I know that rule. I was hoping to hear other people's experience and symptoms regarding the shot. And voicing my frustration about the current timing. Only a pregnancy test will tell me if I'm pregnant or not

@aisleofviewtwo Right! I’m glad you knew. I’m sorry it hasn’t been an easy process for you. I hope you get yours.

I was 20 and my dr at the time promised the IUI was going to work so I was DEVASTATED when it turned out none of the 12 iuis we tried would work. Now at 32 my heart is pretty calloused to the whole process.
