  • Hello friends... new and old. Welcome @gillym0nster!

General TW for mention of previous treatment and losses and success.ย ย

    Ages (you and SO): 40/39

How many months have you been TTC?: Just getting everything in place to start, and still dipping our toes into it so might even start until next cycle.

What are you doing to get knocked up (WAYDTGKU)?: For the remainder of the year, we will try on our own, following a protocol from my functional medicine doctor (the same I used before). If no luck by end of the year, we'll go into a transfer with previously harvested embryos. In the meanwhile, I have kickstarted all my Reproductive Immunology testing as I want to make sure my body is ready from that perspective. Just got through 1/2 of my blood tests this morning; the 2nd half (the specialized tests) is tomorrow morning. So I feel this was a good time to jump back into the swing of TTGP things.ย

Tell us about yourself! (Kids, pets, job, hobbies, etc.) We have a 12.5 month old DS whose conception was not easy (see my siggy). We went through the gamut of treatments, escalating in complexity, cost, and difficulty. At the end of it, we ended up with 5 euploid embryos we we didn't end up using due to a combo of unmedicated pregnancy, followed by an MMC, followed by a D&C, followed by a "kitchen sync functional medicine protocol" followed by an unmedicated conception.ย

We also have a 4 yr old Pembroke Welsh Corgi. She's a delight and our OG child.ย

For hobbies, gosh, not really because time is limited. I have decided that I want to eventually get out of corporate work (more on that later) and go into providing fertility and traditional doula services for those who have a history of infertility because infertility dramatically impacts both antepartum and postpartum experience. I'm starting to work on that a bit on the side in the not-so-much spare time that I have. I also listen to regency romance audiobooks while falling asleep. And podcasts whenever I'm driving.ย

Work wise, I am a program manager manager working in future of transportation: autonomous vehicles.ย

  • Hi everyone!ย
  • @gillym0nster Welcome!! FWIW I did start a special savings fund even before we started TTC. I knew childcare would be a challenge for us, and like having the security of knowing we wonโ€™t be blindsided by startup costs when our time comes. Even though we havenโ€™t gotten to use it yet and are in the thick of IVF at the moment (so who knows when we will), it continues to be a symbol of optimism and hope for me, and every contribution I make a small reminder of all weโ€™re working toward.ย

@acleverusername Welcome back! How incredible that your personal experiences with infertility have led to a vocation where you feel called to support others. I know your services will be invaluable to so many if/when the time is right for you to make the career leap ๐Ÿ’›
  • @aisleofviewtwo thank you so much for your input! We definitely would like to be as prepared as possible when our time comes. ๐Ÿ’œ๐Ÿ’œ sending you good vibes!!!
  • Ages (you and SO): I'll be 42 in a few days. Husband is 41.
