Re: March Randoms

  • Last weekend I traveled to visit family. This weekend we have a friend's baby's 1st birthday party. Next weekend we're going to the Prego Expo being held in our city. Then the following weekend a friend's baby's 100 days celebration. I was hoping to sleep in one of these days 😅

  • What's a 100 days celebration!?
  • My friends are Chinese and they say a baby's 100th day of life is an important milestone so they always celebrate it big! Usually mom and baby have been pretty isolated at home during the first few months so it's like an intro of the baby to the world. This is their 4th child and they make these things as big as a wedding 😳 I missed their 1st as I was on my first trimester vomiting and couldn't leave the house, I went to their 2nd, and they did family only for their 3rd as it was still height of the pandemic, so I'm excited for this one

  • Oh my goodness I love cultural differences like that! What a fun way to let everyone meet the new bambino.
  • I had a follow up ultrasound yesterday because they couldn't get his photos of the spine and heart. They got the heart this time but couldn't get the full spine.

This is the first ultrasound my husband been to since our second daughter's in fall of 2019 when they told us to terminate her. I'm happy they finally are allowing people and children to go to them. We announced to our 3 daughters yesterday with the ultrasound. My husband wanted to know the sex, but I've had all other 3 be surprises so that was my plan this time too. My 5 year old and the tech if they could tell us, and I decided it would be something special for her. So we found out. We're having a boy. My 5 year old cried, she didn't like that answer. I'm having some major disappointment not in the sex so much, but the loss of surprise. My husband is also gung ho on finding a name now, which I'm not ready to do. He's also ready to start tossing all of the girl clothes we've saved and used since our oldest wore them and that's also causing a lot of feelings.
  • Oof. That sounds like a let down, not the gender congrats, but the reaction thereafter. Sorry you're going through so much, maybe tell DH he needs to pump the brakes and just let you enjoy this pregnancy one day at a time
  • I had my anatomy scan yesterday. Baby girl is healthy but wasn't a happy camper. She was all ablled up and sleeping and did not appreciate the pokes. I did find out I have an anterior placenta which makes me feel so much better about not feeling much yet.

DH told me I'm not showing much, I am. And I told him I am. He then said, not like the other ladies there. They were clearly at their end weeks. 🙄

every woman shows differently! and with each pregnancy, plus some days the bump can be bigger or smaller than the day before
  • @jhysmath hopefully DH can slow things down! There's plenty of time to pick out a name. I saved nearly everything from my 1st until I think 18 or 24 months knowing even if it's a girl that plenty of the boy clothes can still work, so I hope the purge still leaves you with options

@robotpopcan one of my coworkers was collecting bets on the gender the other day (I plan to reveal at work after my anatomy scan) and 2 of them didn't know I was pregnant and told me I'm not even showing 😒 yes I am! Then the next day I had a more fitted shirt and one of them said I suddenly popped 😳 but I do think the bump looks bigger by night after I've been eating all day

  • excited to be 20 weeks today!  routine appointment tomorrow and then ultrasound next week.  still keeping things a "secret" from our kids (6.5 and 3.5) but i'm nearly certain my 6.5 year old already knows, but it's so cute for her to be keeping her thoughts to herself :) i'm hoping i can hold out until 23 weeks before telling them.  would like to wait for viability.

@jhysmath do you have a May 2020 baby?  i think we were previously in the same BMB!

  • Yes I have a May 2020 baby...fyi they can't keep secrets so don't expect it lol
  • Anyone else still feeling that 1st trimester exhaustion? I can't keep my eyes open past 8 most nights and even with 10 hours of sleep I'm a zombie at work. On weekends I'm sleeping 12+ hours and still might need an afternoon nap. I can barely find time in the day to run errands, do chores, or even read 😫

  • @winterecho omg yes! i’m still so sleepy! my son and i wake up at like 10am and some days i’m ready for a nap by noon 😂! so those days i’m extra sleepy i just take it easy & allow myself to rest, bc the baby must be growing and needing my energy 😂💛
  • Yes, I'm a sleepy panda all the time though so IDK if it's pregnancy related or not. I will say it's not as bad as the 1st tri.

I'm dealing with SPD, anyone have experience? Know what I should do? It legit feels like my groin is on fire.
  • Re: SPD, physical therapy works really well. You should be able to get out of pain relatively quickly with the right exercises. I don’t think it takes too many visits. Also, I just find that there’s general pubic bone tenderness because the muscles that are attached to it are stretched, making everything not super comfortable. Hope you find your way out of pain!
  • @jareddy many pregnant women face insomnia, ask your doc about unisom. It's pg approved and lots of women swear by it
  • Anyone have thyroid issues? I take a pill first thing in the a.m. and am supposed to wait an hour before eating or taking anything else. The problem is I'm STARVING

@jareddy I’ve started using magnesium lotion on my legs before bed (it also helps with leg cramps if you get those) and my husband has been doing “the jiggle” from spinning babies and it helps me go to sleep!
my babe is low and I’m having terrible hip/back pain keeping me tossing and turning and him “jiggling” me as I lay on my left side helps my body relax and me fall asleep so fast compared to falling to sleep myself!

I also echo unisom but I can’t take it on a work night because it makes me so drowsy in the morning, but it definitely helps you sleep!!
  • Just turned 23 weeks and the article says I'm probably still seeing my doctor once a month. Actually since the very beginning, I've been seeing mine consistently every 3 weeks (except recently I did wait 4 weeks to align with anatomy scan). How often are you seeing your doc?

  • @winterecho i’m seeing my ob every 4wks rn at 23wks, but my ob does like to see 3rd trimester women every 1-2wks
  • @winterecho every 4 weeks right now, currently 23+5
  • 4th baby problems....I think I'm seeing mine every 6ish weeks. I don't want to have to take a sick day as I don't have many for maternity leave so I say just give me your latest one and they're usually 6 weeks out. I'm actually enjoying not going as often. I'm wondering what they are going to do once I'm supposed to go more often lol
  • I feel like I am at the OB or MFM almost every 3 weeks. But I am “low risk, high risk” as my doc puts it so a lot of checking on baby. It has definitely put me at more ease this pregnancy since the first one I feel like I went so long between appts and ultrasounds.

  • Wow it's so interesting to see how different the frequency is. With my first I think I went once a month until my 3rd trimester when it increased to every 2 weeks

About every 3-4 but I had early “complications” and higher risk for preterm labor so I’ve had one or extra appointments.
