Newborn Congestion

FTM Here , my babygirl is 2 weeks and sounds really congested . Any insight ? I heard it’s common but it sounds prominent’. She also doesn’t take any pacifier .. she will suck my boob even while sleeping . Which she cries when I take it out of her mouth for safety concerns . Any advice will help !

Re: Newborn Congestion

  • We used a combo of a humidifier in the room, a saline nasal spray, and the Frida snot sucker to deal with congestion. Baby girl wouldn't sleep if she was too blocked up (makes sense since they breathe through the nose). It might take a while to clear it out completely but keep it up regularly and hopefully you will see success! Good luck!

  • It's normal for babies to sound congested, especially at 2 weeks. Their tiny nasal passages can get blocked with mucus. You can use a bulb syringe to gently clear her nose if needed. As for the pacifier, it's okay if she doesn't take it. Some babies prefer sucking on mom's breast for comfort. Just ensure safe sleep practices and enjoy the close bonding. If you have concerns, consult your pediatrician for personalized advice. Congratulations on your little one!
