Trying to Get Pregnant

IF Testing & Treatment w/o Nov 27

**This is a place for those of us who have already started TTC, but have started infertility testing and/or treatments. You can express your thoughts, feelings, and frustrations on infertility. TTC can be a long journey naturally, then add in the difficulties associated with infertility, and it becomes a whole new ballgame. The road to infertility can be lonely, frustrating, and complicated, so let's make this a place where we can vent, ask questions, and support one another. Feel free to resurrect this thread at any point in the week if you have something to say. Treat this as an ongoing conversation.

Diagnosis (if you've been):

GTKY: What’s the one thing that never fails to cheer you up when you’re feeling down?

Re: IF Testing & Treatment w/o Nov 27

  • I haven’t checked in regularly here for a while with all of the craziness around the holidays, so I did want to start here with a note of gratitude: all of your caring responses a few weeks ago were so appreciated 💛They also drove home for me that a lot of what makes IF so hard is that it can be a very alienating experience that others struggle to understand. I don’t think any of the people I was frustrated with were being malicious, or even really the wrong. We’re all just trying to do our best with the hand we’re dealt. I’m reminded again why I’m so, so thankful to have found this community.

    Diagnosis (if you've been): Unexplained

    Status (TI/ICI/IUI/IVF/FET/benched): Benched

What are you doing this cycle? (Testing? Treatment?): PGT-M test development

How are things going?: Moving along! First appointment with our genetic testing lab is Dec 6; we should find out then if they’ll take our case. We did have to tell our parents + siblings about our situation in order to complete the intake paperwork. Everybody has been so kind and eager to help (which is great and a huge relief!) but also now feeling like I owe them all regular updates (which already sounds exhausting).

Any questions?: Has anybody experienced delayed ovulation after coming off OCPs? CS in spoiler.

I reliably O around CD 12-13. I thought I was experiencing an anovulatory cycle but it looks like I finally O’d on CD 22 or 23. I’ve never had problems coming off birth control pills in the past but this was a different formula. I’ll probably tell the clinic just in case the delay could affect an IVF cycle, though my hunch is that they manipulate hormones so much in that process that it won’t matter.

GTKY: What’s the one thing that never fails to cheer you up when you’re feeling down? Dancing around the house belting out power ballads from Broadway musicals.

Diagnosis (if you've been): none yet…

    Status (TI/ICI/IUI/IVF/FET/benched): benched and testing

What are you doing this cycle? (Testing? Treatment?): testing

How are things going?: struggling with the unknown currently.

    TW: loss

Thanksgiving was harder than expected. Not that this was my first miscarriage, but I feel like this one hit us all different. The heartbeat check was scheduled for the day before Thanksgiving. So instead of celebrating, we were discussing next steps.

Oh, and I had my first parent complaint in years last week. I teach 5th grade and am always 100% transparent with my students. We cried together when my dog died, we celebrate personal victories… anyways, I came back after my miscarriage and talked to them about it so that they knew why I was an emotional wreck. I had parents complain that I was “unfit to teach children” because I did this. You know, building relationships with my students… building empathy and compassion… showing them that I’m a human being and bad things happen to me, too. Thankfully my boss had my back and moved this child classrooms so I don’t have to deal with them ever again.

Any questions?: not at the moment

GTKY: What’s the one thing that never fails to cheer you up when you’re feeling down? Time of year doesn’t matter, if I can just watch Elf, I’m good. It works every time!

@aisleofviewtwo I’m not going to lie, broadway ballads are THE BEST!

ETA: spoilers for my TW… wouldn’t work first time around. Ugh!
  • Diagnosis (if you've been): DOR, APS, RPL

Status (TI/ICI/IUI/IVF/FET/benched): TI! 🙌 but I haven’t seen ovulation yet. 😒 I had a nasty cold which messed with my temps

What are you doing this cycle? (Testing? Treatment?): following up on some testing the remains and WFAF so I can start clomid.

How are things going?: we’ve all been terribly sick. Ugh.

    Any questions?:

mexican food! My husband walks in the door and sees takeout “what’s wrong?” 😂🫣

  • @aisleofviewtwo we have a dish towel that says “in this kitchen we dance” and it’s my favorite 😂
@ejoseph16 ugh. Loss is so hard and it never gets easier.
Also. I’m glad your boss had you back. And glad you are showing the kids you are human.

  • @aisleofviewtwo community is everything! It's so hard feeling alone in it so I'm glad this community is helping ❤️

@ejoseph16 I'm so glad your boss is being supportive! I know as a kid I was always super curious about my teachers lives and always found it interesting to learn about them outside of school

    @charmedlifex3 nachos fix everything!
