Upcoming appointments: Regular weekly check-up on Tuesday
How are you feeling? Stretched to the max. I've been using pregnancy tape all this week because when I stand it just feels like my belly is being pulled down and the top is getting stretched. I was hoping to get more organized/get the house cleaned this weekend for Thanksgiving, but my husband's brother is visiting from Alaska so they were spending time together and I was too tired and sore to do very much.
Raves/Rants: So, I'm really annoyed with my doctor's office. My appointment last week was with a doctor I hadn't met yet and gave me the task of choosing between induction or c-section and said I needed to make an answer ASAP to get on the schedule since it's a "busy time of year." So, my husband and I wanted to talk/do research and came up with a bunch of questions we want to ask. I called on Wednesday because they're always like, "If you have any questions, just call us!" Well...that's a bunch of crap because I called and put in a request in their Patient Portal, got nothing back...called Thursday and was told I'd get a call back by the end of the day, nothing...they finally called on Friday and told me to just ask my questions at my Tuesday appointment. The problem is, I'd really like to talk to my regular doctor because she knows my history with loss and medication so I'm super comfortable with her; this upcoming appointment is with a doctor that I've only seen once and that was just for the glucose test. I'm really struggling with this decision and I feel like they're treating it like I have to choose which flavor muffin I want them to serve me for breakfast.
Questions: Mamas due before Christmas, I guess more specifically other FTM...what are you doing for first Christmas presents and stuff? I feel like we just got everything we need between the shower and buying the rest for ourselves and have no idea what to put on her list. I put pajamas/onesies on there because 99% of people say that's all they live in for the first few months anyway and we didn't get too many of those - my husband and I also got a stocking, ornaments, and a book. Is that good enough? Also, are you starting Santa this year or waiting until next year?
baby is the size of a full size baby now I guess lol

Upcoming appointments: ultrasound Tuesday, stress test Thursday and last obgyn appointment before c section
How are you feeling: swollen. I'm doing ok otherwise, but my ankles look like tree trunks. I'm elevating, drinking nothing but water, wearing compression socks. Nothing helps 🤷. My blood pressure has been totally fine this week. My neighbor is a labor delivery nurse and came and checked on me Saturday. She said everyone looks good 👍.
Raves/Rants: none really
@dmcg17 For the first Christmas with our first, we just did diapers and wipes. This time, we have to fool the older kid ha! So still doing diapers and wipes but also got a few outfits in bigger sizes and I got one toy and a book from Santa. From experience, keep those expectations low the first few years. Once they catch on, there's a feeling that you have to one up the year before! Plus in future years you are going to have Christmas AND a birthday all in one month. It's a lot of stuff!!

Upcoming appointments: Nov 28 - last ultrasound and group b testing
How are you feeling? Nothing new - sleepy!
Raves/Rants: Raves: only three more days of work and I can focus on the baby for the next 4 weeks! So much stuff to get done (nursery, pack hospital bag, clean/wash items, etc.). Rants: MIL has been texting every week to see if my decision changed on when I feel comfortable with visitors (it hasn’t).
Questions: I might be reading too much into it and causing unnecessary anxiety - STM what was your experience with pitocin?
@dmcg17 we set up a diaper fund on Amazon for a registry - we’re asking people to contribute to that since we got majority of the stuff on our registry. Since it’s unknown whether baby will be on time or past due date we’re “skipping Christmas” this year (MIL wants us to have people over 😑)
How are you feeling? Physically really good! Mentally a little overwhelmed. Emotions are all over the place. Just had a check up and tentatively scheduled the induction for Dec 10th which knocks almost a week off, which shouldn't be a big deal but feels like a very big deal lol.
Raves/Rants: none
Questions: Baby monitors? So many to choose from any recommendations?
@dmcg17 I'm so sorry you don't feel supported by you medical team. It's such a overwhelming time especially for us FTM and just because this may be routine to them does not mean it is routine for you. It's a big decision you have to make and the least they can do is answer your questions.
Also as far as Christmas goes for us. I am barely thinking about it. My husbands birthday is on Dec 10th which I just found out is our tentative induction date. Which makes it hard to shop for him on a regular year (also I hate shopping). So I think on my end he is getting a baby for birthday/ Christmas and the baby she will be getting ....life 😅. I honestly can not think about anything else.
Baby is the size of a(n): winter melon? I don't even know what that is.
Team Green/Team Blue/Team Pink: 💚💚💚 BUT a medical student kept saying "he" today until I reminded him I didn't want to know. He said that there have been lots of boys recently, but he also looked very flustered and apologetic, so maybe... Boy?
Upcoming appointments: hahaha. Ob and cardiologist tomorrow, nst and bpp Wednesday. And just had one today.
How are you feeling? I was feeling quite ok this weekend. Energy levels up, only vomited once. I was able to build an armoire with my husband, host family, and was totally fine until today...I think these appointments are the culprit of draining me... Especially today, I had an appointment that should've been routine but it wasn't perfect (fluid was borderline, my bp was five points higher than last time, and they couldn't see the baby practice breathing enough) SO they sent me for extended monitoring. Even though they knew I wouldn't be induced, and that I had appointments tomorrow anyway. So there went four additional hours of giving medical history and getting ultrasounds... Falling apart and now I KNOW it's because of the appointments. Can't wait for a break on Thanksgiving because doctors offices are closed!!
Raves/Rants: I feel like my high risk team is waiting to pounce regarding doing an induction. My DR is the opposite, but balancing the two is just stressful. They keep reminding me that if it was up to them, I would've already been induced. Im so sure they're going to make me go in for extended monitoring again on Wednesday, and I really really don't want to be induced over Thanksgiving.
Questions: within my family, nobody told my parents that they were in labor... They only called once the baby was born. More so that they wouldn't have to have anxious parents texting and calling on top of an already stressful situation. My plan was to keep it quiet unless there was something very wrong or life threatening, and call once the baby was born and everyone settled. My husband tossed a casual comment that of course we would tell our parents when we're going into the hospital. It really stresses me out to think that they would know ESPECIALLY since they have had NOTHING to do with this entire pregnancy and I just don't need them to know until the baby's born. What are y'all's plans with this boundary?
@dmcg17 this decision is not simple at all. C section is major abdominal surgery, recovery is more complicated, and early induction is not simple either. Any medical intervention is going to complicate things. I really hope that the doctor that you trust can talk through it with you, so you can make a decision that you will be happy with!! It's so frustrating to be dealing with multiple providers! Best of luck!
Upcoming appointments: 11/22- standard 36 week appt
How are you feeling? Pelvis is killing me, feels constantly tight and sore. Carpal tunnel and back pain make sleeping so miserable. I keep feeling like he could come any day but then remind myself I statistically have 4 more weeks.
Raves/Rants: Annoyed with my OB, talked to him about my birth preferences and he kept bring up why they may not work using statistally improbable scenarios when I have had a fairly healthy pregnancy. I have started dreading visits because he is just so negative about the birth, postpartum, and handling newborns.
Questions: okay this is random, but whenever I practice piano my baby moves and/or I have contractions. Anyone else have that when they do something specific? It occurs whether I play with headphones in or not. So I wonder if I’m just relaxed and my body can feel it? Wish I could play more but my hands can’t take very much.
Upcoming appointments: next week gestational growth ultrasound.
How are you feeling? Feeling pretty good! Pelvic pain a bit but keeping to the PT exercises and moving in specific ways has helped! Heart burn has gotten better since increasing and tracking my fiber and being super careful to avoid any and all triggers.
Raves/Rants: so excited as we finally got our rocker/glider! It was the final piece of the nursery that we needed. The same time our dishwasher died so unfortunately we had to replace that but thankful for some Black Friday sales! Only rant is the amount of ultrasounds they are requesting to do just based on high bp back at week 8!! We had a bio physical and everything scored a perfect score! So frustrated that they are still planning ultrasounds basically every other week.
Questions: none
@dmcg17 we are planning on just forgoing Christmas. Because we have no idea when the baby will debut. We have a few fun traditions like hot chocolate and movies that we will still do but other than that we will just be chilling at home and hopefully have the decorations up 😂
@nerakh246 We purchased and just set up Infant Optics DXR-8 PRO it’s definitely a splurge but we really wanted something that was not hackable (my husband works in IT) and the noise canceling feature is a huge plus for us (you can still hear baby cry, we tested it) and the picture is one of the best I’ve seen!
Baby is the size of a(n): butternut squash and weighs as much as 8 billiard balls
Team Green/Team Blue/Team Pink: 💙
Upcoming appointments: Nov 27th, last biweekly appointment
How are you feeling? The 1st trimester fatigue has hit again, or it's from lack of sleep from tossing and turning and peeing. Getting more and more physically limited from my bump and can't believe I have 6 more weeks technically. And in just 2, he'll be gaining a pound a week! Officially in the "can't put my shoes and socks on" phase. Pelvic and hip discomfort changes day to day so I'm not sure what I'm doing some days better than others. It feels so weird not needing to plan anything for Christmas meal or travel-wise, especially after doing a lot for Thanksgiving gatherings. We're also not committing to anything incase baby comes early like brother did.
Raves/Rants: none
Questions: Anybody notice things that might startle baby in utero? I got up to pee in the middle of the night and tooted and I'm pretty sure it startled the baby bc he jolted the hardest I've ever felt 😆 it only happened the one time.
@benderisgreat12-23 could it be from the sitting position/posture needed to play the piano? The uterus is a muscle and if you're tensing your abdomen to sit in the necessary postion, that could cause it. I notice if I move or sit a certain way it can cause some braxton hicks.
@chelleylin we're planning on letting people come visit us at the hospital the day after the baby is born. We'll have to let some family know when we're headed to hospital bc we'll need childcare, but don't want anyone in there right afterwards-much to my mother's dismay. She wants to be in the waiting room and come in as soon as he's born. I'm also thinking of telling people if they want to come to the hospital, they have to come bearing sushi or some other food for us to eat lol
@jordieburd We either startled her or my husband tickled her last night! She was moving around and he was kinda poking my belly, then be like wiggled all of his fingers across the top and I felt her whole body tense up. He's going with tickling. 😂
Update: My doctor finally got back to me and said she'd like to answer my questions in person, so to schedule my next appointment with her. My appointment this week is today (with a different doctor) which means I won't go again until next week and next week I'll be 38 weeks, 39 on Saturday - so we went from "Make a decision now!" to "Well let's wait to have a conversation until right before we'd need to schedule you." 🤦🏼♀️
Update: I know I just posted yesterday... But now I'm looking at a scheduled induction for tomorrow! I thought I would for sure get through Thanksgiving and the weekend, but my doctors want to avoid preeclampsia, which seems very likely in the next week. I can't believe I'm going to be in labor tomorrow. Maybe even be a mom by tomorrow night. I suddenly realize how much I haven't done in my house but I'm also nervous for the labor and finishing up my workload that I'm actually doing nothing. Question: knowing I'm getting induced, do I tell my manager that tomorrow's sick day isn't for appointments and that today is my last login? Or tell her after the fact
@chelleylin oh my goodness!! I was overwhelmed with a scheduled induction on Dec 10th 😅. What a surprise to be told it's happening tomorrow!! I hope everything goes smoothly. I agree with @clt2pwm11 I would get it over with and tell your manager.

Upcoming appointments: Tuesday weekly ob appointment
How are you feeling? Like a swollen balloon that ready to pop.
Raves/Rants: Went to my weekly ob appointment today. I’m being induced early Friday morning! I am so ready to meet baby girl. I have been 4 cm dilated and 60% effaced since Saturday.
Questions: Can we start an announcement thread? Something to just introduce our beautiful bundles to the group and give our birthing stories.
Upcoming appointments: Last biweekly checkup on Nov. 30
How are you feeling? The heartburn has gotten much worse! Tums seems to help for now though. It’s sooo hard to get comfortable sleeping. Pretty much the only thing I want to do and have energy to do is lay in bed. I still have so much to get done before baby comes, but I get so out of breath and I just have zero energy. I’m also ready to be done with work (I’m a teacher), but I plan to work up until our Christmas break.
Raves/Rants: My husband likes to keep our schedule really full. He is always making plans to go places and do things, which is nice and fun. However, he doesn’t seem to understand that I’m at the point of just wanting to stay home, put my feet up, get baby stuff done. I keep asking him to assemble baby stuff and he keeps putting it off but always seems to find the time to do other things he wants to do. He said he plans to get everything done after thanksgiving so I’m hoping we will make some good progress over the holiday weekend.
We did our maternity photoshoot last weekend, and I’m so excited to get our photos back! I’m also super excited about thanksgiving tomorrow and Christmas coming up. The holidays are my favorite time of the year!
Questions: What week are you all sanitizing your bottles, pump parts, and pacifiers? I don’t want to do it too early.
@sweetleeyah I started one, but the @BumpAdmin hasn't made it sticky yet at the top. I'll request it again, especially since @chelleylin is being induced today and we want her to have a place to share!
Baby is the size of a(n): She measured at 2460g last week, so I believe we have now reached the all-important 2500g milestone - woohoo!
Team Green/Team Blue/Team Pink: Pink
Upcoming appointments: I have a call with the hospital OB tomorrow to answer my follow-up questions from my appointment last week. I got bad news and need to decide between 3 risky modes of birth. No more boring pregnancy here!
How are you feeling? Scared and defeated. My husband has woken me up several times because I cry in my sleep. Which is slightly distracting me from the consistent discomfort of baby being out of space and fighting against my belly. I also still can't walk by the end of the day, but at least it isn't getting worse.
Raves/Rants: I'm obviously upset by the bad news and the choice I have to make. I am however happy that my husband is being supportive and both my parents and ILs are respecting the fact that I don't want to discuss it. I'm also hoping to submit my Master's thesis next week, so that will be a major weight off my shoulders! Once I do that I need about 1 day for baby prep and 2 days for Christmas prep and then I am ready for this pregnancy to be OVER.
Happy Thanksgiving and congratulations to everyone for making it to term! Sounds like we won't have any preemies. Can't wait to hear about your beautiful babies!
Hey @dmcg17 !! I’m sorry you’re dealing with a lot of roadblocks with the healthcare system. It’s horrible. I’ve been a nurse for 6 years and it’s awful what patients have to for thru.
I’m a FTM and due on the 18th we aren’t doing a single thing for Xmas for our little one, we have gotten sooo much stuff from the shower. We have simply told people they can contribute to her “college/life funds” we set up an investment account that will allow people who want to put money in there instead of gifts. This way he can use it for college, first car, or down payment on a house, later in life.
We have a lot of friends that do this for their kids as well, since they always get soo many toys for their birthdays/Xmas they don’t even notice if we don’t bring one and just give the parents money for their account to help them in the future
Upcoming appointments: had my 36 week appointment on Monday, did my group B strep swab and came back positive today. Feeling slightly upset about it but nothing I can do to change it. Declined my midwife to check me. I will now be going weekly and may consider a cervical check at 38 weeks. I was torn Between getting it vs not. I feel like nothing is happening and I didn’t want to get defeated if I’m not dilated or thinning. But I am very curious.
How are you feeling? Feeling well. I suddenly have a lot of inner thigh/groin pain that hurts more at the end of the day. It’s noticeable all day and feels like I pulled a muscle. I read it could be normal as your pelvis starts to open up.
Raves/Rants: none at the moment. Just getting anxious about arrival and excited to meet our little dude.
Questions. Any other moms tested positive for Group B Strep ? Is anyone doing “natural” induction methods (dates, raspberry leaf tea, sex, bouncing on ball, EPO, extra walking/curb walking, spicy foods, etc) ??
@ayspilks27 I tested positive for group B with my first and now my second. I felt the same way with my first but they just give you extra fluids/ antibiotics and it wasn’t too bad! I hear the exercise ball is good for not just bouncing but kinda moving things around a bit. And walking!
Baby is the size of a(n): apparently his foot fits on a monopoly chance card 😂
Team Green/Team Blue/Team Pink: blue 💙
Upcoming appointments: had an ultrasound and we are now being induced Friday!
How are you feeling? I’m feeling good! Tired and sore but that’s pretty normal at this stage
Raves/Rants: whew it’s been a week y’all. So last week I went in for my regular app and my Bp was high still and so the physician was gonna do labs and discuss with a group of other high risk docs about possibly inducing the Friday after thanksgiving because my Bp wasn’t too high just in the range of gestational Hypertension (level 2). My labs had been normal the week before and they appeared normal this time too. So I get a call that they wanted to do an induction the next day! Y’all we went in there I felt great I was not swollen no visual changes or anything my Bp was 126/70 the lowest it’s been in weeks so finally after my husband and I asked the right questions they sent us home! We do have to be induced this Friday because my Bp is back in the (level 1) range for gestational hypertension but I feel a lot better about the whole process being a week later. Talk about a rollercoaster within the last week. I also learned I’m 1cm dilated which I didn’t think I was gonna be at all!

Questions: Can we start an announcement thread? Something to just introduce our beautiful bundles to the group and give our birthing stories.
Baby is the size of a(n): Pineapple

DS#2 due 25 April 2019

EDD/Weeks + days: 37 weeks 6 days 12/07
Baby is the size of a(n): apparently his foot fits on a monopoly chance card 😂

Questions: what are y’all’s thoughts on pitocin?
