Baby sizing at 6 weeks no heartbeat

Feeling pretty nervous about this. First baby!!  I went for my 8 week ultrasound last Friday only find out the baby is about 6 weeks and 1 day in size. There was a fetal pole but no heartbeat. My cycles have been a bit unusual and are longer than average, especially the month prior to conceiving where I my cycle didn’t start until 45 days (stress induced) so I could have conceived later than average. I’m supposed to have a recheck ultrasound this Friday and I’m super scared. I have been having all my regular symptoms: morning sickness, swelling/bloating, some minor cramping, sore boobs (also seem to get bigger by the day!). thankfully no bleeding or bad cramping. Anyone been in a similar situation? I am so afraid of losing my first it’s been on my mind this whole time. We’ve had so many terrible things happen this year, this has truly been the shining light in our life. But I want to prepare myself. Thoughts?

  • If you're uncertain about your dates, then it's definitely a huge possibility that you just O'd later than you thought and when you go to your recheck ultrasound, it will show growth and you will have no problems.  However, prepare yourself just in case there was no growth and it is a miscarriage.  What you really need to do is to remind yourself that you are pregnant TODAY and that nothing you do can stop a MC from happening if that's the direction that it's going.  So just love that baby as long as you have it, whether that's a few more days, a few more weeks, or until a your PG is a live birth.  A loss really sucks and is a gut punch, but many women have been through it, and you will make it through it as well.
