TW - spotting/bleeding/threatened mc

This thread is for support and questions around spotting/bleeding. 🖤

Conversations surrounding these issues can be discussed here freely. The TW in the title applies for the whole thread. Please beware of reading ahead if you think you might be triggered by conversations about spotting/bleeding.

Finally, remember that most of us are not medical professionals, and even if we were, it's always best to call/visit your doctor with questions or concerns. Feel free to ask questions and voice concerns, but please do not expect anyone here to be able to offer you anything but support. The most important thing to do is to call your doctor. They can offer answers; we can offer support. 🖤

  • Ugh I hate that I’m posting here.  No spotting/bleeding but at 15dpo lines on both cheapies and FRER aren’t progressing…they’re getting lighter.  This felt too good to be true.  I’m just so sad.

  • @stashattack I called and they got me in for betas and progesterone level today.  I won’t have results until Mon & I’ll do my 2nd beta then.  I’m trying to hope it’s just a hydration thing causing a more dilute sample (I don’t even test with FMU anymore because it’s always more dilute for me)…but working a half shift today helped move the day along and lots to keep me distracted this weekend. 🤞

  • 5 weeks, 3 days in first pregnancy and woke up to light bleeding with small clots. Is this normal or should I assume the worst? The line on my tests is still dark and prominent, it hasn’t gotten lighter. My first ultrasound is scheduled on Friday, but that seems like forever to wait for answers. Any experience with similar situations is greatly appreciated!
  • CD1, I’m back to TTGP 😔 Wishing you ladies all the best.

  • I’m 5 weeks 5 days into my second pregnancy with our rainbow baby, and had some brown spotting this morning. I am trying to stay positive until the doctor calls back, but my mind is absolutely going to the worst places. If you’re the praying/ sending good vibes type of person, I will gladly take all I can get!
  • @virginiaham I am so so sorry to hear that! ❤️ Hugs to you.
  • @virginiaham I'm so sorry. I hope you get your next BFP soon!!

@stashattack thank you so much for checking in on me! ❤️ I spoke with the NP and she’s not too worried since it was brown and I’m not in any pain… so that’s been really comforting!! No spotting since… so going to keep resting and trying to think positive! I’m still nauseous and tired… and grateful for that! ❤️❤️
  • Awww good! Keeping my fingers crossed for you!

  • Hi all! I’m 6w5d and this is my first pregnancy. I’ve spotted here and there starting in week 4, usually only a day or two and only noticing occasionally when I wipe. I’ve had my blood work done twice and hcg is progressing nicely and progesterone was in range. I started spotting again this week with more brown mucous so my ob had me come in for an ultrasound and all was perfect- even got to see baby’s heart beating at 120bpm. All this to say, I’m still spotting and even though I’m told it’s fine, I just want to understand the cause and want it to stop for some peace of mind :(. Anyone else experience something similar?
  • Brown spotting is SO normal. Trust your dr and the ultrasound. Baby is good💗
  • Thank you… I’ve had spotting since Wednesday so this is the longest it’s gone consecutively. Flow isn’t increasing and only noticed when I use the restroom. Even though it’s gone on 4 days do you think that’s normal?
  • My sister said she spotted for two weeks! Went on to have a very healthy baby :)
  • Spotting can be so normal. I spotted for like a week right after my BFP. It happens. As long as it's spotting and brown ish it's all good. 🥰

  • I had brown discharge (not even spotting) from Friday to Today. I think it was implantation bleeding, but I didn't think it lasted that long. I'm hoping it stays away now, but it has me freaked out. I hate this feeling of not wanting to get too excited but also not wanting to not be excited about it...
  • @sunshine134 Hoping it was implantation bleeding or just some spotting! Totally understand the feeling - part of me wants to call my family friends and tell everyone and be so excited and the other part of me if afraid that if I leave the bubble of me and my husband (and you guys!) that the bubble will pop again. Try to stay positive!
  • @dmcg17 thanks for the support. I totally agree! It's so scary.
  • Thank goodness for this thread!! I had some bright red spot this morning when I wiped and nothing until this evening when I had pretty dark brown spotting. I am 5w1d. Has anyone else with spotting experienced this? I’ve had one MC and the anxiety that comes afterwards is real.
  • I think I may be having a chemical. My tests this morning are lighter or maybe the same as two days ago. Am I allowed to post pics of the tests?
  • @sunshine134 I believe the only place pics of HPTs are in the first trimester board in the pinned thread. I'm so sorry that the tests are getting lighter. :( I hope it's just a fluke.

  • My HCG blood draw came back at 30. Since I turned a digital Sunday that requires 25, I'm assuming I have had a chemical. I'll know for sure after the second draw but it seems pretty obvious. I'm crushed.
  • @sunshine134 I'm so sorry :(

  • @sunshine134 I am so, very sorry.
  • 5w3d here and I’ve had minimal symptoms and spotting in various hues and flow strength the past few days. Spoke to my OB and they said things sound relatively normal but waiting on HCG results and kinda freaking out. Anyone else able to relate?
  • @sunshine134 I am so so sorry. 💔
  • Thanks for your support everyone. It was confirmed today as a chemical so I'll be heading back to the ttgp board. Good luck to everyone on sticky beans!
  • HCG dropped in my second blood test. I’m devastated
  • @haleyastra I’m so sorry. Sending hugs💗
  • @haleyastra I'm so so sorry. It's such a hard and painful thing to go through.

  • @stashattack @dogmom512 thank you guys so much it means a lot ❤️
  • Hi! I had some light spotting a few weeks ago, went in early to get an ultrasound around 5 weeks because I had an ectopic pregnancy last year and the gestational sac was there but no yolk sac. I then did hcg blood tests and they are progressing as normal. Doctor thinks it was just too early to see the yolk so I have another ultrasound in a week. Praying for good news. Anyone else have this experience?
  • I've never had a 5w u/s, but your dr is right that 5w is really early to see much of anything. Hopefully this week you will be able to see the fetal pole and yolk sac.

  • @knottie0660c25abd8erca5 I had one at 5w5d and only saw the gestational/yolk sac - my doctor made me super nervous at first, but when I started searching on Google, it said that early 5 weeks you typically only see gestational sac, by 5.5 weeks you can see the yolk sac, and then from there you should see the embryo.  It is definitely nerve wracking, but it sounds like it's probably just too early.  Wishing you luck at your next appointment!
