Pooping after Birth

My baby is 3 weeks old now but it is still soooo painful to poop. Anyone else have this problem? Or how long did it take for your poops to go back to normal? Lolol

Re: Pooping after Birth

  • I think it was around 4 weeks that I started to feel like I was healing and things were returning to normal down there. By 6 weeks I felt pretty normal. I had a 3rd degree and 2nd degree tear for reference

  • I used a stool softener for first month post birth with a 2nd degree tear
  • Definitely continue to take stool softeners and try to eat foods high in fiber so you don’t get constipated. The hard poop will hurt even more. I had an almost 4th degree tear and I’m sure It was painful for a while. I can’t remember exactly. But it took a long time for me to heal so don’t stress too much. Just try to relax and don’t strain. If it’s still that painful by your 6 week checkup I would mention it to your provider.
