Re: Weekly Randoms 2/6

  • I took 2 of my boys to the pediatric cardiologist. They have a valve defect. Their doctor highly recommended I still get extra screenings to check for left sided heart defects. Apparently this issue can cause more problems than just the valve. So I’ll be seeing a MFM for the rest of my scans.

  • We have gotten a ton of snow this week. We got 6 inches today and we are suppose to get another 8 over night. I took the kids to awanas tonight and we nearly didn’t make it back home. I was kicking myself for even leaving my house when I noticed my street wasn’t plowed. It was pretty scary. When I get a new vehicle I am not going to get anything that isn’t all wheel drive.
  • @justyouraveragemama Fast food just tastes better when you're eating alone in the car. I have enjoyed lots of McDouble sandwiches this way.
  • @wendy838 I agree! I wish I would’ve just gone to McDonald’s though, Chick-fil-A breakfast isn’t my favorite. That was my first time having it and while the hash browns were yummy, the sausage, egg, and cheese biscuit was subpar in comparison to McDonald’s lol

chick-fil-a had better biscuits but McDonald’s has the perfectly unhealthy sausage, egg, and cheese I was looking for lol
  • I am dying for a salty soft pretzel with cheese sauce but I really have no clue where I can get one but it’s all I want. I think the closest mall with a pretzel shop is 45 mins away maybe an hour and a half
  • @estadt They sell those at Dairy Queen.
  • We are suppose to drive out to the city that actually has a Dairy Queen and now all I can think about are the pretzels. 😆

I have a nasty cold. It feels almost like the flu. I have a scratchy throat, nasty cough, congestion, I can feel some heaviness in my chest, and I have been feeling ran down. My baby slept in his bed most of the night the other night until I started coughing and woke him up. I just need to put the crib back together and get the new mattress ready and I can move him to his own room. It will be bitter sweet. I love our cuddles but I’m so done with nursing right now. The night nursing is what has burnt me out this time around.
  • @emeraldcity603 all have to check I am in Canada (ontario) and our dairy queens don’t always have the same stuff the states do. I love pretzels not pregnant and feel like I would have noticed if they had them but all have to check because this craving is real. If not all make some to hold me over till I can get a real one
  • I think gastro has finally found us 🥲 We haven’t had it since pre-pandemic, so it’s been a nice 3 year gastro-free run.
  • Not me obsessively stalking my patient portal right now for NIPT results despite them saying to allow for 72 hours and it’s barely been 24 😂
  • @gingermama29 wow that’s quick! My dr said the results will come in online in 10 days and I finally got an email 4 weeks later the results are in.
  • @lmn823 ahhh I would not be about to wait that long!
  • @gingermama29 which lab is yours with? Mine has just arrived at the lab and I keep trying to register my test but it hasn’t even been registered in their system yet 😂
  • @pickle-chips the lab is natera. It says my provider would get results first but they indicated I’d see them online first.
  • @gingermama29 interesting! Mine is with Invitae and it also says they’ll be released to my doctor. It also says they’re experiencing processing delays. Sigh.
  • @pickle-chips I had invitae and it took exactly 7 days (Friday to Friday) just last week. Even though it says they release the results to the doctor I didn’t hear anything from mine, and just was emailed the results.
  • @ccmrc143 oh this good to know! Thanks for the intel.
  • I had natera as well. 4 weeks later I don’t know maybe my drs office just sent it out late.
  • @gingermama29 @lmn823

I had natera as well - got the blood drawn evening of 2/6, got an email from natera that my sample was received in their lab the morning of 2/9, and results were released through my doctor's office patient portal yesterday morning (so took 9 days from date of blood draw, 6 days from date Natera received the sample). The natera website actually still says that my test is in progress, not sure when it will update there.

Fingers crossed that everyone's NIPT results show low risk!!!!
  • We have a stomach bug. Ugh, before the pandemic we would get 1 every few years. Now it’s multiple a year. My 5 year old hasn’t eaten solid food since Wednesday afternoon. She is already really tiny and can’t afford to lose any weight. My kids keep dropping like flies.
  • @emeraldcity603 ugh nooooooo! It’s brutal. There was an article on the main page of the CBC website talking about how it’s on the rise in Canada. It seems like everyone I know here has had it at least once in the last month if not more.

Pregnancy brain is in full effect. Packed up DS to go to my parents for the weekend. I forgot a stroller, sound machine, and baby monitor. I’m so annoyed. Going to buy a cheap stroller at target and hopefully sell it, and we’re just going to have to be ok without a monitor I think because the cheap ones are terrible and I don’t want to buy an expensive one. Unless anyone has any cheap ones they like I’ll be sitting by his door during nap time till he falls asleep 🤦‍♀️
  • @ccmrc143 I would just get a cheap voice only monitor. I have one of those as a backup because I misplace my monitor sometimes.
  • YES to a voice only monitor, they're cheap and the kids can play with it like a walkie talkie when they're older. Or are you going to get a new monitor for this baby? Maybe just get it now? And for a stroller, check FB Marketplace in the area -- I've gotten (and sold) 4 strollers from there and never paid more than $35 (for an actual stroller, not just an umbrella), and have been able to sell them for the same thing I paid.
  • This week has been rough. My BIL has been sick since Christmas so my husband and I have been looking after him as we are the only family nearby (we live just under an hour away, rest of the family is 4-6hrs) this came to a head last Friday when he was finally hospitalized. He’s had two surgeries that failed, needs another major one but he is too unstable now to survive it. They have tubes and drains in him and he’s on a cocktail of drugs for the next two months or so until he’s stronger. He got discharged yesterday but won’t be able to live alone. MIL came up to take him back to her place for a week then DH will drive down to get him and he’ll likely live with us. It’s also worth noting BIL is autistic. Usually he’s high functioning but with being sick and stressed less so. To top is off my tire blew on the highway this week, our dishwasher broke, and we had a leak in our basement (Minor issue thankfully, didn’t cause damage and it was fixed by DH basically immediately). But I’ve reached a point where I’m just no longer coping at all. It feels like my life is crumbling. I’m stressed beyond reason which then makes me more stressed about the baby. DH has missed a fair bit of work with his brother so he’s now working weekends when he can. I feel like me and the baby have been totally back burnered- which I understand, but still sucks. He even said to me the other day he’ll forget I’m pregnant for days at a time. We have stopped working on the nursery, not that we had really even started, and we won’t even talk about names or anything anymore. I went to the OB by myself this week which made sense because he’s already missed so much work. All of this to say I’m stressed, DH is stressed, my pregnancy and I are not a priority for him which I do understand because baby and I are both healthy but still sucks. I don’t know if this rant made sense. I just needed to get it out there. I’ve had like three breakdowns in as many days.
  • @lizdiane456 omg so sorry to hear you’re going through this. This sounds so rough and it’s good that you’re venting about it. I’m sure that your DH will be thankful for everything you have been through especially being pregnant. It still sucks that you have been feeling like you’ve been put on the back burner and you’ve been going to visits by yourself. I hope you can take a step back and keep yourself healthy for the sake of the family and baby. When it rains it pours, but when it rains comes rainbows.
  • @lizdiane456 That sounds really tough. I’m so sorry y’all have been going through this.
  • @ki1244 @emeraldcity603 thank you for the nudge! I got a $20 audio monitor and it’s such a relief. I was going to buy another infant optics but it was $165 vs. we were planning to just buy another camera for baby which is only $100. I was just stupidly stressed about making that decision TODAY and am glad I now have this cheap backup. Also I checked out FB marketplace for strollers but turns out target was selling an umbrella stroller for $25 and I took it. It’s not the best…DS can bend himself over to touch the wheels while it’s in motion 🤦‍♀️ Just one more day!
@lizdiane456 That situation sounds incredibly stressful and I’m sorry it’s happening at all, but especially during your pregnancy. Hopefully this week while BIL is away you and DH will be able to take a breather and reconnect 🙏
  • @lizdiane456 I am so sorry. That is so much on your plate. I hope that you’re able to take some time for yourself and time for you and YH this next week.
  • @lizdiane456 thanks -- so far this one has been WAY less stress, but some of that is timing too. I was due in June last time, so at least if he gets back into the college game and we move after this season (it's on the table, annoyingly -- that's a whole other sack of potatoes) it's less of a tight schedule trying to move in May to have a baby three weeks later. ANYWAY...

I'm glad you're getting little ways to do things together this weekend! Maybe it's just me but I kinda think chore days as a couple are sometimes just as fun as actual dates (without the annoying pressure of WE MUST MAKE THIS SPECIAL). We did a LOT of that back in coaching days. Hell, even just a nap together was (is?) like the height of romance. Also, where the heck IS this farm, anyway? And can I borrow some of your energy to do so much? On days when my daughter isn't napping I'm like DESTROYED by dinner time...
  • I am struggling today. I moved my baby to his own room and believe it or not he slept all night until 7 am. I unfortunately woke at 4:30 and couldn’t go back to sleep because I was anticipating him waking at any point. We got school done and now I’m just laying on the couch. I plan to stay hear and let the kids watch a ridiculous amount of TV.
  • This was my last week of jury duty and I got called in today for a trial that could last 3weeks😭 they pulled a ton of people so I won’t know until like Monday if I’ve been selected but I’m really hoping I’m not. We seriously can’t afford for me to be doing jury duty for 3 weeks🙃
  • @justyouraveragemama That’s so crazy. I have never been called for it. Which blows my mind. I know some people who have been called multiple times.
  • @justyouraveragemama I tried to look up if pregnancy can be used as an excuse to get out of jury duty….nope! Unless your dr gives a note. Tried to help you lol sorry
  • @emeraldcity603 I swear I got called because I was teasing SO about it when he got called for it. Just karma lol

@lmn823 yeah, I’m just hoping since I still have morning sickness that they won’t pick me. I still really can’t be trusted to sit in a court room all day without needing to leave to throw up. I barely got through the half day we did today. And with how easily I’ve been getting dehydrated I’m not going to be the ideal juror
