OMG I read the thread title and thought this was about sex like during pregnancy 🤦♀️ Haha. This is much more exciting! I hope to be able to add my result on Friday after my NIPT and ultrasound. I’ll be 12.5w so in theory the tech should be able to ID sex from the scan if baby is in a good position 🤞
Heyoooooo I totally thought the same thing as @ccmrc143 when I saw the thread title and was like "kudos to y'all on that, but this is a no wake zone these days". Never mind...
I'm supposed to have my NIPT results sometime between Feb 4 and 8, so naturally I'm checking my email 3-4 times a day now for them.
Wow 12 boys and 5 girls on this thread!!! I have no idea why I think this, but I remember learning somewhere that during times of extreme stress or chaos, more boys are born than girls (well there are always more boys than girls, but in a more serious way). I wonder if there are more boys during this time period because of covid/economy/etc? My idea was that boys help rebuild, repopulate, or fight if there’s war? When I tried googling this, I got nothing, so really I could’ve made it up and DH thinks I’m insane for saying it. But there I said it to you guys 😂 I was just chatting with my grandmother who had 4 boys. When prepping for baby number 5, she wallpapered the nursery with a blue pattern. Naturally, baby 5 ended up a girl 🥰
@justyouraveragemama I read this, too! I think the study referred to three time periods--the spanish flu, the roaring 20s, and the great depression. And during the spanish flu and the great depression the ratio was almost equal. But during the 20s, significantly more boys were born. So fewer boys we born during the challenging times. I have now had two boys during the pandemic (including this current kiddo cooking away), so I am the exception
We’re having a little brother! Exclamation point because I’m trying to be exited about it. DS is excited. So many August boys. I know 3 other people in my real life also pregnant between June-Aug and so far 3 of us are having boys. 4th one finds out later this week.
@tumbleweed-1 welcome to the club!!! I know it’s hard to be excited. I gave myself a bit of time to be disappointed. I wanted a girl badly. At this point I’m just excited to dive into boy everything and I’m shocked I can honestly say I’m ok with it now.
@tumbleweed-1@ccmrc143 sending you both hugs! I wanted a boy for my first child and definitely had to work through some disappiontment when we found out the sex. Then DD was born and she's the best thing ever. Despite that, on some level I think DH and I were both hoping for a boy and had some disappointment again. It can be hard to navigate but I think one of the benefits of finding out ahead of time is having time to work through it!
@ccmrc143 and @priyadoc thanks, a lot of my disappointment disappeared when DS little face lit up and he smiled and started telling me all the things him and his brother will do. It was just my last chance at having a daughter, so like priyadoc said, good to work through that before he’s born. I had finally accepted being one and done then we found out we’re having this surprise baby- been a roller coaster!
Had our anatomy scan this afternoon and were shocked to find baby #3 is a boy! DH didn’t know what to say. He said “I don’t know what to do with a boy, I have girls”. I was like dude…but you are a boy! 😂💙
