When to ask people to be godparents

Hi,
I am just wondering when do people normally ask someone to be the God parents for their child? Do you wait until your baby is born or do you do it before? For my son we did it after he was born, this time I am getting alot of push for waiting....  Just wanted to see what everyone else is doing.

1st time parent here. Our daughter is not due to Feb. We've already asked our friends to be Godparents. Do what you want, not what others want you to do.
