@noxacanthus same here - my oldest 2 are moving to the basement bedroom, (current) youngest is moving to the girls old room, then baby will go in the current nursery where my youngest is. Problem is that all 3 of those rooms really need a paint job!
We are also having room shuffling. We moved into our new master suite about 2 years ago, and our old master was a guest room for about a year, and then we sold all the furniture and it remained empty/storage. We moved the girls in about a month ago, and DS is going in the girls' old room, and the nursery will be vacant.
@youcanhavemanhattan Jealous! But happy for you. Impatiently waiting for flutters over here.
And jealous of all of you who have the space to shuffle rooms around and give baby its own space. Though I guess a silver lining of living in a tiny matchbox of an apartment is that I don't have to do any real prep, because I can't. Baby will just end up being wherever s/he can fit and we'll figure it out as we go.
@missmuisq I totally relate to you. We are currently trying to figure out what piece of furniture to get rid of in our bedroom in order to be able to fit a bassinet (or maybe minicrib) in here. 1 bedroom apartments are tricky!!
I love home reorganization/ room painting/ house projects! I’m jealous of those that need to paint 😂 I have to do some spackle and touch ups once we remove a shelf but otherwise the painting blitz I did in 2020 has us covered.
@heytallmama Omg I totally second a thread for baby room thread. I’m a non-creative over here in desperate need of some inspiration.
We have a second bedroom that will be our nursery (although still trying to see if we can find something better to rent for baby’s first year). The big problems with our second bedroom/home office though is that it’s the only room with no air conditioning - on a second floor in Southern CA - so it’s hot! And for the past 6 years it’s what we jokingly refer to as the “cat room” where their litter box has been and where they take over the furniture. There’s something so disgusting-feeling about now making that the baby room and potential for the cats to be really angry with baby usurping them but what else can you do with small spaces?
@missmuisq@youcanhavemanhattan I'm also with you on the lack of space for baby. Our house is only 2 rooms upstairs. Our plan was to move out of this house into our 3 bedroom rental property and demolish this place and rebuild. But some things got in the way and now we have to re-draw all of our plans.
Because we were planning on moving, we didn't do any painting so our walls are full of holes, we don't have baseboards and my bathroom is an ugly blue lol. I've decided I'm going to paint my room and the bathroom to make it look slightly better. But also do I really want to go through all that effort if I know we're going to tear the house down?
@heytallmama you are welcome to come to my house and help me figure out what colors to paint! This is the first time I’ll have a space to actually make a nursery for the baby and I’m so overwhelmed by the possibilities 😅
Team no space here too. 😅 7 kids in a small 3 bedroom house. My 1yr old is currently still in the crib in our room. He'll go in the bigger room with my 7, 6, and 3yr old pretty soon. We have a moses basket thing as an infant crib we'll put in our room for this baby basically for looks as we bedshare 😂😂. Eventually we'll move the regular crib back into my room when we transfer the current 1yr old into a bottom bunk we have a while before that happens. My two older share a much smaller room.

Baby’s room is currently an office space for my husband. We need to finish our basement to relocate all of his stuff and musical instruments. So far we are framed, wired, and insulated. Currently deciding on plumbing a possible wet bar and installing sub floor to prevent crazy molding if we flood. I’m worried this is too much to accomplish before baby is here as we still need walls, flooring, and a ceiling. You know, basics. 😑
@missmuisq we're having to move everything around in our house so the baby can have a corner of our bedroom 😂 we have a very tiny house with no storage. Literally one closet!
We have a ton of things going on at our house rn and I'm kinda overwhelmed. Half of our windows are being replaced on Monday so I have to take down all the curtains and blinds and also move all the furniture by the windows. Then my husband decided to impulse by a new bed and bedframe for our bedroom. Where I'm currently purging / rearranging everything in order to find space for the crib to go next to our bed. He drives over the road and is gone 6 days a week so I have to take apart the old bed put the new bed together myself while he's gone. And I'm still on pelvic rest so it's been hard (and honestly the pelvic rest the doc put me on is like only 1 step above the actual bed rest I was on with DD#1).
On top of that, my MIL (who technically owns the house, but we've been paying the mortgage since she bought it) bought us some upper cabinets for our kitchen (currently we have 2 lower cabinets and that's it). But her condition for giving them to us is that we have to take down our custom dog crate that's in the laundry room for some reason? So now I have to get caught up on all the laundry, including finding space for all the stored laundry I leave in there cause there's no storage in the house, and move things around in that room so someone can come in and take the crate down.
On the bright side, I was purging stuff out of our closet (the only one in the whole house) to make more room and found not one, not two, but *three* stashes of baby clothes I'd put up from the girls and now my dresser and closet are overflowing with cute baby clothes. So I'm taking that as a win.

@Wishilivedinflorida I absolutely will. And that's not even including all the other random things that we (mostly me since DH is gone all week) have to do before baby gets here. We're getting a new shower, new appliances, etc in the new year. Have to paint all the cabinets and redo the counter tops. I have furniture I have to either get rid of or find somewhere else to store it. Both of our cars need replaced before the baby is due. And I have to somehow find room to house my sister for a month when the baby is due because she's going to stay with us to help out since DH doesn't get paternity leave. I'm exhausted just thinking about it all 😭

Has anyone ever fallen on their hip/side while pregnant? One of my dogs knocked me over and I landed on my side. All seems fine, just shook up. Dr. Google says a late 2nd tri/3rd tri is when you should worry, but nothing about mid(19/20 weeks). I’m calling the dr tomorrow to give them a heads up and luckily have an appointment on Friday.
@shorty-sar I fell on my butt once, hard! I think it was mid-3rd trimester. My doctor said anything that's not straight on the front has a lot of cushion for baby because of all the fluid.
@shorty-sar I fell partway down my stairs around 20ish weeks pregnant with my first. Went to the doctor the same day for peace of mind and she said as long as I wasn't bleeding / leaking fluid/ having contractions, then I would be fine. She did prescribe me a muscle relaxer because I landed mostly on my butt and hip and was very sore.

Omg you guys! Today is the tenth business day waiting for my NIPT results and to finally learn the gender and my midwife emailed and said the lab messed up and only send one portion of the test but forgot a second vial and I have to redo it. I about exploded this morning when I found out. We’re going to book a gender reveal ultrasound at a boutique place next week now to finally find out. We’re so annoyed. Sorry just needed to vent!!
I’m sorry that is ridiculous @disneybaby23! How nerve wracking to have to wait to find out if baby is healthy for that long! The least they could have done is figured out the mistake earlier than this.
On that topic, the last part of my quad screen came back low risk so I guess my old lady eggs aren’t too bad after all. 🤷🏻♀️
All this nursery talk has me thinking I should ask y'all. My son is currently in what will be the nursery for the new little one. I would like to switch him into his new bedroom before baby, because after baby will be too hectic (even though baby will sleep by us for a while). We have two options. One is the current guest bedroom/my husband's office next to DS's room. The other is up 7 stairs and we call the loft because it's the only room up there, above the garage and has a slanted ceiling.
WWYD? My DH says he wants to convert his office/guest bedroom (next to current nursery) because he is concerned about the safety of the stairs (there is a rail and some nonskid pads on each step) but I think it would be easier to do the loft because there's some big furniture in the office/guest bedroom that we'd need to get rid of. Also, the loft is smaller and warmer in summer.
@disneybaby23 no that's so frustrating!!! Hopefully they're able to rush the next one for you.
@cheznet if you're confident in your son's ability to climb the stairs then it sounds like you'd rather have him there. Can you move the office furniture to the loft if your husband really wants him in that room?
@Wishilivedinflorida yeah it’s crazy because now I have no idea what that means for my genetic screening especially since everything is timed. I was just unlucky of doing the genetic testing right as the state is changing to a better program so I think I was one of the Guinea pigs the other day for the new program at my doctors office. Glad that your quad screen came back looking good! So stressful waiting for results.
Has anyone been diagnosed with marginal cord insertion ? I was just told today that that’s what my baby has. Thankfully my baby is the right size and growing properly so it could pose no risk but I’ll be closely monitored which is comforting.
Just wondering if anyone else has this or had it in a previous pregnancy ?
@cheznet Based on what you shared, I’d convert the loft to the office and current office to new bedroom for your son. Pending how old he is, you may still have middle-of-the-night needs for him (our 7yo still occasionally needs us at odd hours)— do you or husband really wanna have to walk up stairs? And if there isn’t a bathroom there, that could be more trouble than it’s worth if potty training hasn’t happened yet.
Big furniture moving is a PITA, so I get that. I’m in you boat having to move and/or sell some big pieces to change my current office/guest room to a room for baby. Do you have a neighbor or friend near by that could help with furniture shuffle?
@miss_lynn9 most of it is too big for that room so we would have to get rid of it. He has a HUGE desk that I've tried to get rid of before with no success. We might have to pay someone to take it, but it's a shame cause it's in good shape!
@heytallmama there isn't a bathroom, but it's just 7 stairs, so I wasn't thinking it'd be that bad. I think the current office/guest bedroom is probably best, but it is going to be annoying to move or get rid of that furniture!
@babymac4321 - I don't have an experience with marginal cord insertion, but I have had placental insufficiency twice. It's more ultrasounds and then the possibility of induction. Glad your baby is growing well!
@cheznet I'd turn the loft into the office and keep both kids close together. We've had kids on opposite sides of the house and it makes things much tougher. Also when baby gets older you are probably going to want to baby proof the stairs which cuts off easy access to the bedroom upstairs.

@marebear15 right?! It's perfect! I normally only buy a few special pieces because we have so many hand-me-downs and wait till much later when nesting hits to buy. But it was on super sale for $12 so I couldn't pass it up!

This weekend was so exhausting with how much stuff we had to do. DH drives over the road and lately has been getting home so late on Saturday that he has to go straight to bed so he only ends up having 1 day off. So this Sunday we had to leave at 8 in the morning to make the annual trip to the pumpkin patch we go to every year with our friends, then our weekly playdate with the kids and DnD with our friends, followed by grocery shopping for the house and for DH's truck, then we got home late at night and had to toss the kids straight in bed since they had school the next day, put the groceries away, wash all of DH's uniforms and repack all his bags so he could leave first thing in the morning. Then the next day I had to get up super early to move all the furniture and clean all the windows so they could be replaced. They took all day so I had to put the bedroom furniture back while the kids had showers / baths so they could go to bed. Then put all the blinds and curtains back up. I still have a bunch of furniture to move back and tomorrow I have to take down the bed in our room and put up the new bed by myself so the mattress has time to decompress before DH gets home this weekend 😩 I'm so tired but honestly the new windows look AMAZING and I'm so excited to have windows that open and don't have broken screens so it was all worth it. And I know I'm gonna feel the same way about the stupid bed once it's done too haha

@miss_lynn9 yes please! I was just starting to think about this last night. Now that it’s halfway time it’s time to start planning for how is this kid getting out. Lol.
I always hear the debates about whether or not to eat deli meat during pregnancy, and I only avoided during my first pregnancy. But I decided to do some researching via the CDC website on multi-state listeria outbreaks since 2011. Deli meat is actually tied with ice cream, having 3 outbreaks each 😳 The highest was soft cheese (8), followed by veggies (6, mostly salads). Just some interesting research to make informed decisions. https://www.cdc.gov/listeria/outbreaks/index.html
